From the Beautiful Granville Records archives, Tevo Howard Recordings is presenting this 12th digital release as the original recordings of the album Mind Blowin’ Lady by Flo Crew (For Lovers Only). Here included, are 4 demos and 4 early recordings, which are to remain as the staple sound that crafted the label (Beautiful Granville Records). The 4 demo recordings are the original actual first recordings of these individual compositions fed through a simple mastering sequence. All other recordings here are well in the same, but are not the very first recordings, rather edits made circa 2009, and then fed through a simple master.

Tevo Howard’s second Buzzin’ Fly release after his successful debut The Age of Compassion last year. Three tracks that make up the Monument EP are a near perfect example of Howard’s various strengths as a producer, though “Conditional Love” is an undoubted highlight. The track bumps along with a gloriously quirky quality, its warm analogue groove embellished by an array of delightful percussive and rhythmic touches.

This Newave mix was spun by me some time in 2005, and has always been one of my favorites. Pass this one on!

This album features 7 long form dance tracks, and is as Tevo Howard’s second album to date. The tracks included are to be looked at as sound compositions both as a whole and as their individual parts. In sound design, these tracks are sculpted for the dancer while focusing on metaphoric juxtapositions between the actual text titles of the tracks and their individual sound designs.

First released on Beautiful Granville Records, the band FLO Crew, meaning For Lovers Only Crew, was meant to be an outline for an actual performing band. In Other words, all instruments heard on the FLO Crew recordings were meant to be assigned to instrumentalists, leaving these recordings as, actually, templates of song concepts. Thus, featured here are all instruments composed and recorded by Tevo Howard. Simply put, FLO Crew is Tevo Howard’s funk Band. The Band itself addresses all aspects of romantic love, which includes breakup songs like the one featured here. The band should be considered a funk outfit that pays its own funky way of looking at many genres and tempos. Both tracks in this selection are in their original arrangements and re-mastered.

The track itself is to represent the essence of the beautiful place that is called downtown Granville, from its moody energy to the mode and pace of the people who make up this small neck of the woods in Chicago. As the track is titled Beautiful Granville, it is the original recording that sprung to mind and the very track that started the record label’s name, mood and energy.
