Faze Action decided to take the whole band in to the recording studios with Nathan Curran aka Tugg on Drums , Rob Lee on Bass, Pete z on Keys (who has also played for the likes of Rub N Tugg and DJ Harvey ), Simon Lee congas and percussion, Mary Moore on vocals and Rob Lee on guitar. New York’s Neurotic Drum Band open up their recent (and perfectly titled) “Robotic Hypnotic Adventure” to a trio of classy remixes. Fellow New Yorker Abu Duque channels his techno roots into this more disco-shaped mix by keeping the bass deep and powerful and adding plenty of huge dynamic builds, all built around the original’s warped piano parts. The Runaway mix keeps things more blissful and Balearic, while Harkin and Raney add some deep and dark strings to their mix – a pleasing counterpoint to the original’s old-school piano-house vibe.
Koze on his debut ‘Rue Burnout EP’ from his own Pampa label, he plays with finesse and sophistication, and implicitly understands the importance of subtlety, leading from dreamy and restrained parts to a noisy frenzy at the end.
