Imugem Orihasam succeeds like no other to balance apparent opposites by using cool and clear transparency in contrast to the mesmerizing and warm pulsating soundscapes to create depth of the highest quality.A1 “Gleam From Distant Gate” is one of those tracks which seem quite unremarkable first, but with the time it creates a massiv hypnotic attraction, a wormhole-like effect you cannot escape from. That space seems endless, just right big enough to loose yourself in it. B1 “Misty Evening” seems to be just the right soundtrack to build an underwater metropolisis. Let alone having the title track from their acclaimed 2010 album reworked (twice) into a floor-filling behemoth by Daphni (aka Dan Snaith aka Caribou). “We toured together in 2010 and since then I’ve always wanted to play their music in my DJ sets. So I did my own version of this track”, says Snaith. “It’s one of those tracks that whenever I play it I can feel the energy in the room lift.” Luckily Emeralds were equally enthusiastic and so this unlikely hybrid see the light of day. …or rather the dark inside of a club.

Superb Deep House from Kim Brown, making her (his?) debut on the boutique Berlin imprint, Just Another Beat. Elegantly paced and carefully arranged, Brown’s first outing makes a strong impression. ‘Camera Moves’ sounds like The Burrell Brothers making out with Sven Weissmann, while ‘This Will Like Never Be The Same’ hits a hazy, nostalgic vibe with lush Balearic Boogie infusions.
