New work from Carl Craig, under the moniker of Carls Davis. Sweet and versatile tracks on Planet E again!
Trus’me – The Red Remixes [PN014]

As Trus’me steers himself further into techno territory after his emergence as a champion of funk-rooted house music, this latest set of remixes further highlights how the man has impeccable taste to match his production abilities. DVS1 creates a cavernous beast out of “In The Red”, as a sumptuous metallic reverb provides the centrepiece for fluttering hats and flat kicks in a masterful exercise in techno restraint. Meanwhile Terrence Dixon proves his worth in the world of leftfield Detroitisms with a mesmerizing melodic hook and an insistent yet restrained bassline as he tackles “Shakea Body”.
Marcelus – Super Strength EP [TRESOR251]

Marcelus serves further notice of that prefix with an EP on heavyweights Tresor and this four track Super Strength EP finds him in superb form. Leading with the title track, the 25-year-old Parisian launches with menacing intent, huge waves of post apocalyptic pressure swirling around the stereo expanses atop a thick set techno chug. Alongside it “Falcon” ascends with a slanted progress – all detuned chimes and shifting percussive touches jostling urgently for attention in mind-bending fashion. This sense of organised chaos seeps all the way to the runout groove on the flip with “Rachel’s Groove” fizzing manically throughout its entire duration while “Suspension” imbues proceedings with the faintest sense of melancholy amidst the cacophony of rattling rhythms.

Violence FM – Ondulation EP [SUIT002]

The second release from the Skylax sublabel Stay Underground, It Pays is coming from Violence FM. Rhythm playing and drum-machines programmings, editing, mix and mastering, his compositions are often inspired by tribal spirits, organic deep bass and melodies, oscillating beetween smoothie and energy, or both. Deep & Drum could be summing up his mind working, but no matter because the energy and emotion are primarily convened for a result that combines demanding sensuality and wildness. The release comes with a John Heckle remix.
VA – Houseville Of Skylax #2 [LAX129]

The second Houseville of Skylax EP features 5 amazing cuts from respectively John Heckle (with 2 cuts !), Master Muzikbox aka Mzkbx, Luv Jam and Rezkar.
Tom Trago – Iris Remixes [RH114RMX]

A year after the release of Tom Trago’s ‘Iris’ album we now have versions from no less than KiNK, Linkwood AND Larry Heard.
Alex Isreal – Front Butt [CR1258]

Alex Israel, Chicago’s own overlord of deranged deep house comes to Creme with a rip-roaring four tracker in said style. Lush pads meander over swampy basslines and drum patterns that wash over you like a sweet Monsoon. Hard to imagine it was conceived in the Windy City, but we guess the allure of the unattainable is a potent one.

Reggie Blount – Shining Star [CCROWN007]

After the Dexter and Erik Travis releases its funkateer mr Blount getting freaky on his 2nd release! Hailing from New Zealand Reggie Blount made his debut 1.5 year ago on Clone Crown ltd. His Hard Times debut ep sold out straight away and got loads of fine feedback from the heads out there. This second ep starts with more crazy funky vocal p-funk tracks Flip side starts with the incredible track ”Hey”. One of those tracks that is able to give you goose bumps and grow on you to become one of those ”our tunes” kinda tracks you share with that special person. Ep is finnishing of with the beautiful wave electro funk kinda thing called Racecar! As if Garry Numan is doing some p-funk.
Bernadott – The Roof Of Love EP [GOLEM008]

Bernadott, the Roof of Love EP showcases the talent of two underground producers hailing from Paris and Stockholm, two diggers of the highest order, immersed in musique concrete, italo, free jazz, punk, chicago house and such, two DJs devoted to tension, hips and shoulders. With upcoming releases on high profile labels, The Golem proudly takes them to the forefront first, unleashing their highly original and leftfield take on the dancefloor. On Side A, Bernadott turns a white funk forgotten gem, expands it before turning it into a gherkin-esque acid burner with unexpected nods to juke, subtly returning to its post punk roots before you even notice. On side B, another post punk affair autistically turned into a dubby madchester piano choon, a quasi absurd but groovy breezy love song. And last but not least, this new episod ends with ”You Dance So Well”, a real floor filler cosmic/synth wave hyptnotic track sung in german.
Cyril – Will You Show Up / So Proud [PPU035]

Limited edition 80s funk 7inch single from the forthcoming album “Saturday Night”, the life’s work of Cyril Walker. During the making of this record Cyril passed away on December 31, 2010. He will be missed.
Cruise Family – We’re In Heaven [NNF247]

Vinyl debut by this Viennese rave abstractionist boils down pulsing LED beats and deep synth strobe FX into a cavernous laser-streaked fog. in blinding Alex Grey-style acid-body artwork by Mr. Cruise Family himself. With more ups and downs than the average quad bike race track, epic title track “We’re In Heaven” draws us into the pulsing synth-ride. Sparkling argeggios and acid blips slide over a squelchy undercarriage making for some tranced-out electro psychedelia. “Be Part Of It (Club Mix)” will appeal to lovers of the 80s EBM sound – it’s swirling nu-beat, but without a kick drum in ear shot. “Gone By Dawn” closes the EP on a tripped-out cosmic ambience.
Forward Strategy Group – Labour Division EP1 [TPT052]

Companion EP to Patrick Walker and Smear’s imminent debut album as Forward Strategy Group, featuring two of its heaviest cuts, one exclusive track and a brace of remixes from Factory Floor. ‘Labour Division’ is a low-slung but shark-eyed warehouse number with shades of Luke Slater’s LB Dub Corps project, while ‘Mandate’ explores darker, more minimal territory, with killer snare edits and scruffily dubbed-out chords, and ‘A Greyed Out Life’ is lush synth dreamscaping a la C2, Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream and even early Human League. Factory Floor’s remix of ‘Nihil Novi’ is an interesting synthesis of post-DFA dub-disco drum patterns, analogue synth spurts and industrial accenting; better still is the version of the same track by the band’s Nik Colk Void, a compelling, skin-crawling work of beatless and bass-heavy electronic abstraction in the spirit of Suum Cuique, Mika Vainio and TG.
Newclear Waves – S/T LP [DSR028LP]

Hailing from Rome – Italy, Newclear Waves is essentially the solo project of Alessandro Adriani, mind and boss of Mannequin Records, one of the most important synth wave / cold wave labels around, with contributions from Oksana Xiu, an academic russian musician devoted to analog synths. Deeply influenced by the works of the early minimal electronics sounds on Mute Records and 4AD, Newclear Waves is exploring droned out electro pop territories with an interest for a refreshing hyperactive 80s New Wave. Having turned out releases on Mannequin Records, the duo is now presenting a full‐lenght ten tracks collection of caliginous pure analog minimal synth on the way on Desire Records, french Cold Wave and Electro Wave label, focused both in new artists and stunning reissues from 4AD like Mass, In Camera and Dance Chapter.
Pye Corner Audio – Black Mill Tapes Volume 3: All Pathways Open [PCA003]

Right then, our Head Technician has sworn that he will have the next instalment of Black Mills Tapes ready for us by the end of January. Volume 3: All Pathways Open comprises a further twelve tracks lovingly transferred from those now fabled 1/4″ and cassette tapes. The Advisory Circle kindly lent a hand and retransferred ‘Electronic Rhythm Number Eighteen’ for which we are very grateful. Our Head Technician tells us this particular segment had been giving him a fair bit of trouble, so the help was appreciated.
BlakeAndrew – Awakening

Debut album for BlakAndrew, released on his out bandcamp page. Awakening seems to trudge through an epic tale about good and evil – the inner struggles of light and darkness and how each power tries to defeat the other yet exists solely as a symbiotic balance. The album’s genres can be tough to pinpoint but “Awakening” definitely has a dark, electro-techno-industrial sound. The tracks wouldn’t be considered ‘dance floor anthems’ by any means, though most of the tracks have deep, pounding beats with undeniable techno roots. “Awakening” also pans into stretches of ambient, hip hop and electronica.
