Torquato & Boghosian – Torquato & Boghosian Remixes [YSD046]

Yoruba presents a selection of diverse and interesting remixes for Torquato and Boghosian’s acclaimed debut. First up, Afefe Iku delivers a much deeper, weightier version of Paradice laden with heavy synth stabs and woody percussive elements. Aybee takes When U Touch Me nto much deeper realms, stripping back the original groove . It’s remarkably simple but flawlessly executed, the chord motif working effortlessly alongside the crisp hats. Atone tackles Zulu Girl and in the process unravels a much more mechanical track, a massive mid-tempo thud dominating over delayed cymbal crashes and ghostly vocals.

VID & Andrew Grant – Inlove / Fear [WRR025]

VID is a new project by Romanian young talent Sorin Rastoaca, know also as EGAL 3. Here he teams up with his friend Andrew Grant for some refreshing beats. A collaboration between Andrew and Sorin really grabs you without letting go with it’s intense subby rumbling groove and tight dubby transitions. “Dinamic” and “Inlove” are testaments of Sorin’s musical integrity yet at early age, and shows obvious inspiration from classic American techno, and modern dub techno, yet still delivering something that is housy and totally current.

Myriadd – The Way We Were [SIG.MMXII.VII]

Two stunning slices of mercurial and heartfelt British Techno from two outstanding northern producers that cuts across the M62 corridor like a night drive into oblivion. A 10” black hit of space, lovingly designed for the dark, sweaty basements of provincial, post-industrial towns and the cold light of day in the car park of Knutsford Services.

Delroy Edwards – 4 Club Use Only EP [LIES015]

Delroy Edwards steps up with his debut release for L.I.E.S. Musically Edwards takes his influences from that Barney’s Ghetto sound with oversaturated 909 shuffling highs, DX bells, 101 filters and ends up making fresh, and yes, melodic ghetto style tracks that somehow get stuck in your head even without vocals. A unique take on a modern classic with the dancefloor in mind.

Xosar – Nite Jam [RHX-2]

Xosar with the second release on Rush Hour. With ‘Nite Jam’ and ‘Elixir Of Dreams’ she continues to explore the boundaries of the self-dubbed ghost house genre. Late night occult tinged music for the after midnight freaks and sunshine shy infidels. A descendant from a Bengali aerospace engineer and Cherokee psychic, she was born in San Jose California, raised in San Francisco and is now residing in a quiet seaside village on the North Sea. Here she spends most of her time wandering through dark forests, channeling the energy of nature and primal forces contained within symbols, and using these energies to produce a sensual and exotic blend of deep Detroit-style techno and leftfield ghost house.

N & N Tracks – Farewell To The South [BOOMCHICK001]

The first offering on Boom Chik comes from N & N Tracks. Produced by Neville Watson and Nigel Rogers (aka Perseus Traxx) in an impromptu recording session lasting just one afternoon, the love of classic sounding Chicago tones and feelings are immediately present. The sound is that of effect drenched raw machinery, hammering out beats and synth parts intended to transport you on the dance floor, all beaten out of the machines live to tape with Neville and Nigel just performing the occasional edit here and there.

Heatsick – Convergence [RHD-004SICK]

The enigmatic Heatsick’s CasioTones evolve over this EP with the inclusion of accompanying drum machine (something we haven’t heard in his productions before) – four focused tracks that express the overload from stimuli and expansion from time space compression.

Sumerian Fleet – Sturm Bricht Los EP [CREC012]

New release from Sumerian Fleet on Creme Eclipse. Big Menacing Darkwave with an industrial tinge from this mysterious West Coast super group, like someone finally removed those damn sunglasses from the Sisters of Mercy dude and showed him the world was an even sadder place than he imagined. Little was heard of him since.

Factory Floor – Two Different Ways (Remixes) [DFA2341]

Factory Floor offer up a substantial distraction while the band put the finishing touches on their debut album, due out on DFA Records in early 2013. Their last single “Two Different Ways” is remixed by two different electronic music leaders. Richard H Kirk, co-founder of both Cabaret Voltaire and Sweet Exorcist, puts his own warped spin on the single, while Perc aka Ali Wells, takes the original and piles on his signature throbbing bass for the main remix. Perc also offers up a ‘Noisy Mix’ taking avant waves of feedback and noise and shaping into something unexpectedly beautiful.

Robert Hood – Motor: Nighttime World 3 [MMLP038]

After the legendary “Nighttime World Volume 1” and “Nighttime World Volume 2”, Robert Hood returns with the long awaited “Motor: Nighttime World 3” on Music Man. With this, Robert Hood returns to the project he first started on Austria’s Cheap label back in 1995 and subsequently continued in 2000 on M-Plant. Fusing his trademark minimal techno into jazz inspired moods and inflections, Hood emerges from the smoke-lit shadows of a downbeat, but not beaten, Motor City metropolis. Inspired by Julien Temple’s documentary ‘Requiem For Detroit?’ Robert Hood examines the life, history and future of Detroit’s motor industry and its workforce, set against a backdrop of decay, despair, hope and re-birth.

Inigo Kennedy – Spectre / Wonderhorse [TOKEN024]

Token sticks to its guns: Inigo Kennedy delivers a big new 12inch with a double a-side. ‘Spectre’ hits hard yet gloomy. Relentless drums bathing in reverb and a strange synth line create yet another unique IK-piece. ‘Wonderhorse’ is built on the same foundations but explores a more melodic & psychedelic trajectory.

Intergalactic Gary – Pains Of Passion Mix [RDR004]

https://i0.wp.com/images.junostatic.com/full/CS424473-01A-BIG.jpg

More from the Roller Disco reissue series, as Intergalactic Gary’s tongue-in-cheek tribute to the joys of camp ’80s synthesizer music gets a deserved repress. For the uninitiated, Intergalactic Gary is a Hague-based synth fetishist and notorist Italo digger. Here, he showcases a tiny fraction of his unrivalled collection of (largely European) synth-pop and disco oddities, mixing up 19 tracks that will be new to all but the most dusty-fingered of collectors.
