HTRK / Tropic of Cancer – Part Time Punks Radio Sessions [GI168]

The Part Time Punks Radio Sessions 12″ by HTRK and Tropic of Cancer holds six sublime songs of desire. Comparable to a fly-on-a-wall Peel Sessions, the critically acclaimed Part Time Punks radio show is the sound of the LA underground, run by local icon Michael Stock. The limited split captures both bands live at the radio headquarters during HTRK’s first 2011 tour of the USA, accompanied by comrades in minimalism and melancholia, Tropic of Cancer. Flipping this vinyl sounds like two sides of the same cursed coin, and mirrors a high school dance playing an endless lustful waltz. BPMs bumped down to a psychic stalk. It’s a broken and beautiful memento.

Metasplice – Decant / Churn [DOSER015]

Fierce new two track 12″ from Metasplice, bringing premium ‘outsider techno’ onto this insider label. “In a time when techno and abstract music is sounding repetitive, Metasplice continue to utilize unconventional sounds and arrangements. “Decant”, being the more floor oriented track, combines groovy bits that turn into splashing immense noises and harmonies. “Churn” opens with a barrage of beautifully crafted harmonic sequences, then relentlessly descends into a sublime world. Both tracks are spectacular floating grooves that immerse the listener in the group’s unique and intense headspace.”

Legowelt – The Paranormal Soul [CJFD016]

Insubordinate and averse to anything going on in the EDM world the dutch derelict of techno is back with a luminous new album on Clone Records. Steamy and mysterious as ever The Paranormal Soul is advancing the trademark Legowelt sound into new directions. Mangling up the historical foundations of New York, Detroit, Chicago and early U.K Rave, mixing it with seedy witchcraft rituals and deep space psychedelics for a boundless journey into techno mysticism.

Johannes Albert & Monosoul – The Future Sound Of Limburg EP [FM12006]

Frank Music presents: The Future Sound of Limburg by Monosoul & Johannes Albert. “Whatever” is pushing prime time house, chords, higher strings and a nice acid line in the end. “Mornin Moanin” is more on a mellow tip, pads and a nice bass out of the beloved juno machine. For warmup or late nite use they offer “Jomo MF” which consists of some riot-as-well-as-rainy beatdown sweatness house.

Ka§par – Cruising Andromeda [4LUX1205]

Cover art - Kaspar: Cruising Andromeda

Preceding a full length album on 4lux, Ka§par showcases his amazing talents on this second EP for 4lux. The Portuguese producer comes with some of the most interesting dance music around. Got Good Love is a tough Deep House groover that comes as both original and with a Nicholas remix. Cruising Andromeda is a futuristic techno tune for forward thinking deejay’s. On Hyphen Ka§par slows down the pace and tosses in some 707 action: a crazy ride with rough synths and spaced out effects.

Arttu – Set You Free [4LUX1204]

Cover art - Arttu: Set You Free

Arttu returns on 4lux and he returns on form with two new cuts. Summin Bout Drums is a dirty and sleazy house affair. The Finnish producer now residing in Berlin comes with two fat versions of his own while Basic Soul Unit provides for a frantic remix with a crazy acid vibe. Set You Free is a bumping track with hard hitting drums cut up vocals and harsh synth elements.
