David Vunk & Ben La Desh – Turner / Deep Valley [MST021]
The new release on Moustache Recordings label is a collaboration between label owner David Vunk and fellow Rotterdam rogue, Ben La Desh who between them have combined to produce two tracks full of spaced out house, techno, electronic and disco feelings. First up, Turner drops a rich color palette of vibrant space disco prize strings. The creeping crescendo of synth-led brushstrokes paint a rich impressionistic glow interpersed with positive vocal samples drifting through like dutch boats in a gale. Next up Deep Valley takes off over the snow-capped mountain tops and towards the flowing river of deep techno drums. Eerie soaring strings and isolated vocal snaps conjure up images of cavernous depths of deep sea and space as we go deeper into the valley of the dolls. With releases coming on strong over the past few years La Desh continues his ascent into production adulthood on the 21st release on Moustache Recordings while Vunk’s typical high-class production values shine through this entire release. Further collaborations between this duo would be only gezellig.
Glenn Underground – Techno Soul [NSRVINYL004]
Noble Square brings this amazing 12″ featuring two killer house tracks by Glenn Underground. The title cut is a unique composition that’s masterfully crafted around a guitar and brings tons of live energy to dancefloors. On the flip, “Ambient Jaz One” throws down another blueprint of technologic soulful house music.
Sha-Lor – I’m In Love [RHRSS006]
Following the Dream 2 Science release on the Rush Hour Reissue series earlier this year, another NYC garage classic by Ben Cenac, also known for his Newcleus outfit, gets a much deserved reissue. Unlike Dream 2 Science, which remained an obscure record at the time, Sha-Lor became an international club hit and a Summer Of Love staple song. The timeless feel of this innocent, heartfelt vocal song sounds as fresh as it did back then and is sure to fill people’s hearts with joy again. Scott Fraser / Other Worlds – Horn Wax Three [HWTHREE]
With delays on Tusk Wax Eight, the label turn to their Horn Wax sister imprint for the next Wax hit. On side A we get Scott Fraser’s “Space & Tapes”, another massive track from this producer who has already impressed with his releases on World Unknown and Weatherall’s Bird Scarer imprint. Rooted in a Detroit / Chicago sound, “Space & Tapes” is a raw analogue techno epic that retains interest throughout. This has been a staple of Mr Tusk Wax’s DJ sets for the last two months, and is a serious dancefloor weapon. Offering something deeper we have Other Worlds’ “Dystope” on the B-side, a slowly building electronic house / techno track that morphs with acid squelches and arpeggiated synth sparkles.
VA – L.I.E.S. presents American Noise Sampler [LIES017]
Three track vinyl sampler EP from the upcoming L.I.E.S. “American Noise” 2xcd compilation. This sampler expands upon three completely styles reflective of the diverse L.I.E.S. catalog to date. Torn Hawk pulverizing the entire a-side with his most unclassifiable material to date, Marcos Cabral returning to the label with a sinister 110 BPM techno track, and Delroy Edwards doing a blown-out Barney’s workout.

VA – Aphotic Segments Part 2 [SIS019]
Sistrum moves further into the exploration of modern electronic music with the 2nd installment of the Aphotic Segments series. Chris Mitchell opens the EP with a driving, minimal builder- “Brisk City.” Tony Ollivierra is warmly welcomed to Sistrum for this project and “Prophetic Light” lives up to everything we had hoped to hear from him. Patrice Scott commandeers the B-side with “M.F.D.T” – and for good reason – this tune needs a full-side vinyl cut to transmit the hefty, growling bassline on display. Listeners are further treated to an intergalactic journey of swirling soundscapes and mind-tingling synth pulsations.
Riviera – SR11 EP [MUSCLE001]
Muscle Records is a label for upfront dirty dance music. All tracks are conceived naturally and recorded on tape, so an elemental and honest approach is required to fully dive into Muscle Records sounds. Riviera is a band formed by a bunch of young talented gritty analogue junkies, most of which has already released on a couple of disrespected labels. The band first jams were recorded on parching tape in a sultry warehoue close to the Brenta’s muddy banks with a noisy dockyard of transistors delights.

Perseus Traxx – Das Haus [F-FLASH003]
A raw, unrehearsed and uncompromising jam captured on tape and released unedited to maintain the unfettered energy. Clocking in at just shy of fifteen minutes, this full assault of sound aimed squarely at the dancefloor, was directly inspired by a visit to perform at the club of the same name in Zagreb, Croatia.

At the crossroads between avant-garde techno-funk and a mischievous take on the sound of yesterday, Low Jack’s clockmacker beats are channeled through a radiesthesia pendulum and the effects are akin to vertigo-inducing opiates of the strongest persuasion. In addition to the three outstanding originals, this release contains Gerd’s very first remix as Geeeman.

Mike Taylor’s second EP for Running Back is turning the curve ball of the first into a wild pitch (if Baseball metaphors are your thing). 4 tracks across the Disco Nihilist spectrum: The rare cheerfulness of ‘House Rent Boogie’ is backed up with a classic and no-nonsense RZ-1 beat symphony that is aptly titled ‘Beatdown Drums”, while the flip presents the masked mania of ‘Film Grain’ and some grumpy grittiness with ‘Operator Select”.
CCO – Music For Cosmonauts [LXRC010]
Lux Rec reaches number 10 in their catalogue, and for this occasion they come out with a special release. In January 2012 CCO played a stunning and completely live & analog set at Zukunft, one of the best clubs in Zurich. Lux Rec asked him to reenact the set and record it once again, live. The result is a 1 hour long electronic music suite, filled with 808 and 707 beats, 303 acid lines and spatial sounds. They decided to press 2 excerpts, Pt. 1 is 12 minutes long while Pt. 2 is 25 minutes long, and release them on vinyl as Music For Cosmonauts. It was magic to see CCO at work, as no computer was used in the process every pattern specs had to be written down on paper, and machines programmed on the run.Music for Cosmonauts is music to look at the world from outer space.
