Transformation / Beau Wanzer – Kozmik / Orbit [KODE05]

A split release on Nation’s sublabel, Kode. Two exclusive tracks from Transformation & Beau Wanzer. Transformation’s 2nd document of their time in the makeshift studio for another 15 minute psychedelic slo-trip continuing steps in creativity, gaining access to various pieces of musical equipment, hitting the garage, practicing and recording in hopes of making it, entitled “Sketch 4”. Over the past year Beau Wanzer’s output has been fueled by deformed synths, grim vocals, and hard hitting drums more suited for dungeon dance floors than heady home listenings. For his next release he offers an icy subdued drum machine workout. ‘Oklahoma 3’ was recorded in the winter of 2009 while visiting his parent’s house over the holidays. A combination of Roland drum machines, sampled jazz tones, and ambient atmospheres the track sets a tone for a bleak winter in the countryside.

Casey Tucker – Knoe 2/4 [KNOE2/4]

For Those That Knoe are back with another wedge of dusted down delights from Casey Tucker, a hidden treasure of the mid 90s that nearly got away. Fortunately his effervescent machine soul jams have found a new lease of life with these reissues, and this fourth installment comes from a freshly unearthed box of DATs that pushes Tucker’s story even further. “Inner Strength” is a pumped up shot of dynamic techno in the classic sense of the word, mysterious but hopeful, tough but sensitive. “Terraform,” which previously aired on a long-deleted 12″ from the 90s, takes things skywards with an unabashedly positive tone to the dense layers of synths and box beats. “Waiting Game” rounds the EP out on a wistful, acid-drenched tip – let’s hope there’s more jams of this quality to come from the Tucker archives.

Lokier & The Machine – Lokier & The Machine [SPTS01]

Danny McLewin (Psychemagik) and Jamie Cruisey have a new label of original signed artists called SPIRITS. The first release is from Mexican hotness ‘Lokier’ of She Made Monster and ‘Jason Greer’ aka ‘The Machine’, one of the Californian undergrounds best kept secrets. They met in 2015 at a festival in London and after spending a few days together, became musically obsessed with each other. That summer, as Jason bounced around Europe, he stayed with Lokier in Barcelona for some weeks and after long night walks, some tapas and absinthe bars they came up with their first EP together.
