Delroy Edwards keeps the old school fire burning, returning to L.I.E.S. with a new 8 track lp titled “Slap Happy”. Once again this is back to basics, no punches pulled Chicago House worship, hitting all ends of the dance specturm. Sparse beat tracks, 80s synth stabs, 727 latin percussion…the elements are all there and put together in perfect form…many try but few can execute the vintage sound like this. What may even be Edward’s most mature release, it comes in a time when the roots of dance music have been forgotten to the grotesque trends of the day. This is a reminder of why we were drawn to this music in the first place and what it can sound like.
Dame-Music kicks off 2020 with a bang. For her first release of the decade, label head Bloody Mary has teamed up with Barcelona-based artist Cardopusher to deliver an EP full of hard-hitting, acidic EBM weapons. On the A-side sees the pair serve up the EP’s title track “Conformity Kills” – a high-energy original complete with a broken-beat alternative mix. On the flip side, the pair are joined for additional vocals by Lbeeze on “Out Of Control”. The package is rounded out with a heavy remix from EBM man of the moment, Sarin.

The stars align as Dublin’s Cignol graces Distant Worlds with a heavyweight transmission of rich acidic electro. Cosmic hardware voyages are the order of the day: wallshaking mechanical bassweight complimented perfectly by beautiful, intricate melodies. Each track paints a beautiful picture of interstellar wonder perfectly aligned with what we have come to expect from the Distant Worlds stable. The galaxy’s dancefloors should seriously be considering some structural reinforcement as this reléase is sure to cause considerable damage.
Paradise Industrial Complex is the incubation against greed and exploitation. Your imagination springs to life as Sansibar draws a mysterious map to his subconscious. He kept his ideas secret until bolstering them with additional observation and experiments. The result is an avalanche of detail—there seems to be no corner of his mind that he did not enter. The world of Sansibar evokes an electrifying sense of discovery where fragile sound waves evolve into something beautiful and powerful leading to trigger chills.

Weapons of Desire are back with the next installment of raw percussion and the dirty bass lines that we have all grown to know and love. Five brilliant 707 and 808 driven techno stompers from the eminently proficient Craig Stainton over two sides of wax in both his Mantra and Myriadd production guises.
SDH return with the Against Strong Thinking EP. The band continues to explore the musical language as a poetic form and trying to discover new questions that allow the great categories of thinking to be undone. Against Strong Thinking talks about the importance of facing all that categorical, dogmatic and conclusive thinking. There is a need for dialogue with everything that seems unquestionable. Again, the questions guide all the songs and, again, there is no single answer. Sometimes this doubt is fertile, sometimes it is painful and involves a total and profound loss.
The first release on the new Hypnotic techno label KR3 is a mini-compilation of four club bangers that symbolises the inception and evolution of a vortex – concept that is also embodied in the label’s logo. KR3 001 is a highly powerful release that seduces the listener into a labyrinth of twisted thoughts; a notion that has been widely embraced and evoked by all the artists who have contributed with their participation to the genesis of the label. Tracks by Steve Bicknell, Zadig, Giorgio Gigli & Lunatik and Iori.
