Soft Vision – Zwei [AD-014]

Soft Vision returns to Acoustic Division with ZWEI, a 4 track 12” EP that breaches the flood walls between synth pop and techno. This Austin, TX duo proves not only make you cry or laugh, but possibly dance and lose any notion of self at all. The tobias. remix of the A1 Track ”Tractor Beam,” glides the original into a hallucinogenic territory. Melody and rhythm dissolve into each other as an ethereal voice guides you in from the fog.

Todd Osborn – Step Off [AD011]

After previously delivering the Back 2 Here 12″ to Acoustic Division last year, Todd Osborn is back with another single that draws on a range of house styles delivered with his impeccable knack for classically rooted grooves that sound better than the rest. “Step Off” is a fine slice of piano house goodness with drums that sizzle and snap in all the right ways, while “House 117” turns to a sweeter kind of disco-inflected boogie completely unabashed in its romantic, sugary leanings. “November” turns to a heavenly selection of soulful licks to create a low-slung masterpiece as finely crafted as it is loose and easy.

Live Island – King [ADHD001]

Born from the depths of a basement show and raised on the hallowed, unrelenting beauty of the Kentucky countryside, the artist known as Live Island proves not all hope is lost in world. In fact: just the opposite. “King” is effective music for a disaffected people; transmitted by the Philosopher King guiding us into the coming Ice Age. Harboring hope with its timeless synthetic beauty, “King” promises only the shift in perspective you’ll need to survive what’s to come. Its sibling, the “Home Dub”, is an etude of broken minimalism, born of dank basements but not alien to the terrains of the dance floor.

Claire – Perfume [AD010]

CLAIRE - Perfume

The tenth release on Acoustic Division is coming from Claire. “Perfume” is a techno that sucks the air out of the room and charges the void with an inescapable atmosphere of enchantment and control. Distilled from smoke and mirrors and spun from the hypnotist’s lyre, her machinery leaves its trace everywhere, as fragments of desire dissolve into the presence of total submission.

Featureless Ghost take it straight towards the blackened ecstasy of dance- floor revelry with their Trance State or Identity EP, a collection of four highly crafted and mechanized emotions issued forth from the Acoustic Division. Known for their mastery of tense cybernetic synth-pop, the Atlanta duo bridge the more gothic strains of techno, electro, and clubland music into a precise and cutting future funk. This record runs the full course- hard and jacking right into the beautiful and disorienting warmth of the abyss. Electric romanticism and drum machine communion at its finest.

Beautiful and unrelenting, understated and overwhelming, Mr. Osborn delivers on the promise ofall of those adjectives with Back 2 Here. Four Detroit inspired compositions guiding your night to all of the right places, from dusk to sunrise. Back 2 Here bridges an intense emotional resonance from the thundering physicality of the club, the purple skied, clear summer after hours straight on until a post-party morning breakfast.

Three Legged Race – Wrong Element EP [AD003]

Hallucinating, mechanical, and dark; spatial techno from THREE LEGGED RACE. The WRONG ELEMENT EP solidifies Robert Beatty’s recent mind bending live performances into proper physical form: a 12″ extended play record. The high voltage lines of slum MOOG and brick 808 define the all saturating sound seeping from the black lead earth of Lexington, Kentucky. The mastery of tension and release found throughout Beatty’s work with Hair Police and Burning Star Core is here crystalized into a rich and daunting psycho-physical techno fit for the club and the basement.
