Danny Wolfers was very active releasing four albums on his Nightwind Records.
Legowelt – A Philosophy of Tracking [Nightwind Records]
First was a digital version of “A Philosophy of Tracking” album that came with the Legowelt Polyend Tracker hardware sequencer/sampler released in 2021 only on vinyl. All songs were made on the Polyend Tracker machine.
Alchemulator – A Lonely Larper on LARPA net [Nightwind Records]
“A Lonely Larper on LARPA net” is Danny Wolfers’ follow up of 2021 Alchemulator – “Larping At Fairsnake Hamlet” album. The sound goes in a bit of a different direction, the cheap digital FM homekeyboard is replaced with simple FM synths, old “obsolete’ samplers and some other stuff. There are a lot of vocals and experiments with them.
Legowelt – Ambient Trip Commander Original Soundtrack [Nightwind Records]
“Ambient Trip Commander” is a hand drawn/painted feature animation film made by Danny Wolfers. The film premiered on 28th of May 2022 at the EYE film Museum in Amsterdam Holland with a live soundtrack on synths by Legowelt. This is the soundtrack album of my 2022 Ambient Trip Commander animation film on cassette tape and digital.
Alpenmarmot – Unheimliche Landschaftsgestaltung [Nightwind Records]
“Alpenmarmot – Unheimliche Landschaftsgestaltung” (translates as ‘eerie landscaping’) is a power electronics industrial acid ambient noise project by Danny Wofers. It was recorded at 1500 meters above sea level on the slopes of the Wildhorn mountain in Switzerland. Unfussy sewer-synths mixed with field recordings of the local Alpine nature and infrastructure. We hear mangled rusty cable cars, crumbling mountains, unknown nocturnal creatures and ofcourse the ever so cute Alpen Marmot.
Sirs Cuts – Thanks You Bundle [Sirsounds Records]
In March, SIRS preseted on his bandcamp page a free download compilation including 14 of his disco cuts. Some of them more retouched, some less – always appreciating the original music.
SIRS Travel Edits – X Mas 2023
Just before Christimas time, SIRS presents a collection of 16 disco edits of some knows and unknown tunes which he made whilst traveling in 2023. These are for free downloads and artists and song title are mentioned in the download file.
VA – Pay What You Want Sampler #4 [Akuphone]
Next is the fourth Pay What You Want compilation from Akuphone, the French independent label founded in 2015 by Cheb Gero. The compilation includes 10 outernational tracks, featuring among other Ak’chamel, Dada Black Sheep, Damo Suzuki, Fuji-Yuki, Kadef Abgi, Leviot and Tasos Stamou.
Sinusoidal – Moral Decay [Pinkman]
“Moral Decay” is a release from Sinusiodal featuring five adventurous tracks that bow to the downtempo domain. This release was offered as name-your-price by Pinkman.
Anthony Rother – ROBO POP [PSI49NET]
In the last few years, electro veteran Anthory Rother had the habbit to release a new album at the end of the year, on his bandcamp as a name-your-price download. No surprise here, this year he released a new double electro/ambient album, called ROBO POP.
Slow Motion – A Ufo
Slow Motion continued their free rework/edit/cover series called: ‘’A Ufo’’. In 2023 they released 5 edits coming from the likes of Fabrizio Mammarella, Lennart, Radondo, My Boy Roy and Andrea Tempo.
Italo Moderni Edits (X-MAS IV Edizione)
Just in time for the end of the year, Italo Moderni presented a Xmas compilations with italo disco edits from Flemming Dalum, Hysteric, Adrian Marth, WLDV, Enzio Etchaberri and Louis Moorhouse, as Free Download on their bandcamp page.
Zaratustra – Paris, Texas (Booth Scene Edit)
Mélopée Records released aslast spring a free download on their soundcloud page a moving and epic edit by Zaratustra.
Hysteric offered for free download a 2021 edit for Brando’s “Rainy Day”, released in back in 1983.
Closing out 2023 giveaway list is Kama Muta, a duo from Thessaloniki. With a combination of poetry and music, Kama Muta creates post-punk and darkwave compositions.
