Art Crime delivers a four tracker of meltingly good music on Pinkman Records. Chords cascade, blending and reforming, in the warming wonder of ‘Still Life’, ‘Dead Carnation’ is from a similar place. Keys skipping down scales, dancing down them as percussion lends a touch of weight.’Distant’ is the mood changer. Rain falls, smoke whirls and the night descends in this dark and intoxicating encounter. But those clouds part for the close. Lush pads and soaring notes break through for calming currents of the less than aptly titled ‘Hectic’. An artist rewriting stereotypes, an EP of true quality.

The mysterious Art Crime is back with a new EP on Creme Organisation. It is a four track affair that continues to showcase the producer’s knack for ravey, texturally rich house and techno sounds with a rather haunting edge. ‘Anxiety is Always Here’ is a high tempo stomper with spooky pads and jangling, energetic melodies that reverberate in a dark night sky. ‘The Owner’ is rooted on firm kicks and has dark, lo fi atmospheres percolating all around as paranoid stabs and gothic keys rain down from above. ‘Renessense’ is then a rather more stripped back and groovy, deeper cut with slithering and icy hi hat patterns and sombre bass notes. Still, it retains a trance inducing sense of freakiness before closer ‘Intention’ close out the EP in lithe, soulful and hi tek techno fashion.

Hailing from Moscos Art Crime delivers a versatile ep with up tempo tracks ranging from more melodic piano driven house on the opening track to heavy percussion driven techno with a nice metalic bass line topped with more piano and almost Drexciyan atmospheres in the melancholic Happiness Side Effects, and beautiful dramatic vibes on the final track.
