The Dutch label Balans Records returns with it’s twenty-first instalment to the series. This time Darko Esser’s imprint presents a collaboration between Z.I.P.P.O and Kalean, under their 3KZ moniker. ‘Not From Here’ opens the EP with its flowing grooves & eerie pads to create a beautiful techno track followed by ‘Nature Of Motion’ that offers an astral like immersion to the listener with its haunting melodic rhythms. On the flipside ‘Circles’ & ‘Times’ switch up the vibe in a more intense & playful mood, resulting in a finely balanced EP of atmospheric driving techno.

The first installment of Balans Records in 2016 brings the debut of young, talented Italian artist, Drafted, to the Dutch label. Beautifully opening the EP, ‘Frames from the Lake’ fills the air with a thick suspense, reminiscent of a mystical fairytale before ‘Frequency Graven’ dives straight into a persistent kick and coordinated with fluttering chords. On the flip side, ‘Shaded Impacted’ delivers a deeper bass which introduces a progression into a climax of heavenly dissonance and relentless hi-hats. ‘Vortex Empire’ on the other hand features contradictory rhythms which dance atop stirring atmospheres. Each track is able to emphasize that naturally opposites do attract as the confronting rhythms compliment any dark dance floor.

Balans welcomes back Swedish-born Staffan Linzatti for his second release on the Dutch imprint with Dividing in Two, an energetic two-track EP keeping consistent with the labels vision of delivering classic techno rhythms. ‘Dizziness’ opens the EP with a hypnotizing yet airy signal that captivates upon overture. Combined with a rolling bass and quintessential claps it is sure to enchant any listener. On side B, ‘Clarity’ takes a whole new direction opening straight into a full-blown kick and high hats that persist throughout the track.
