DimDJ – Electronic Friction [GTD025]

DimDJ makes a welcome return on Gated for a second EP of acid-inflected hardware tracks, showcasing a range of sounds, from mid-tempo arpeggiated opener ‘Next On Next’, followed by the faster Detroit electro-influenced ‘The Path’, and low-end bothering ‘Cashe’ on the A side. The B leads with the rather lovely ’10th Of May’, which in our book is basically a summer-soaked Balearic house track, followed by the experimental acid techno of ‘Crash’, before ‘Ampi 00 Pattern’ winds down the EP in pensive ambient style.

DimDJ – Classics 2023-2024 EP [PKP015]

DimDj is a legendary figure of the Greek electronic music scene. After establishing his reputation as an excellent DJ already since the 90’s, he continued to grow his personal myth with the delicate production of a wide variety of singles and EP’s. Following his many releases in various labels worldwide (Mathematics, Alley Version, June, TH Tar Hallow, Lower Parts, Anopolis Records), he now delivers a mini-LP for To Pikap Records. DimDJ – Acid Tracks [GTD.016]

DIMDJ - Acid Tracks

Greek genius DimDJ is no stranger to a live jam, pushing his machines to produce gritty dancefloor stompers since the heady days of 2004. He makes his Gated debut with an EP of uncompromising 303 workouts, once again driving those silver boxes to produce addictive, floor-focused DJ tools. But it’s not all heads-down squelch, with a final track squeezed onto the B-side that brings a surprisingly punk twist to an EP that’s also appropriately named… Acid Tracks.

Exhausted Modern / DimDJ – BNJ004 [BNJ004]

Exhausted Modern from Prague (Endless Illusion founder) and the techno veteran DimDJ from Thessaloniki are going together on this split EP, the fourth release on Lyon’s imprint Blue Night Jungle. With their strong analog approach, they each explore the infinite possibilities of raw sound materials, going from wild acid aesthetics to classical Detroit’s electro aesthetics. Two universes that are largely complementary, strengthening each other, and therefore creating a beautiful representation of what Blue Night Jungle “Dance” sublabel aims to focus on. With this new release, Blue Night Jungle goes fully European by letting these two underground artist express themselves through a common way.

Anopolis – Dimadou [APR01]

The third release in the Anopolis trilogy coincides with the founding of Anopolis Records. Like the previous two EPs, Dimadou takes reference points from the sound of the 90s and avoids getting bogged down with track titles. The first track, A19 is noticeably influenced by the Sheffield scene and Rising High records. The EP continues with the heavy bass line and the TR-707 drums of A18, a strong nod to the Chicago sound. On the B side, drum machines dominate in A21 and A20 with their piercing sound hinting towards the style of Ron Hardy. Rounding off the EP is the atmospheric A17 and its warm, hazy pads. This final part of the trilogy is simultaneously the beginning for further releases through the project s new imprint Anopolis Records.

DimDJ – DimDJ TH04 [TH004]

DimDj has no control over his life. Machines, records and noise boxes took over years ago. This is more than confirmed by this 5-track journey from acid techno to the old-school electro and further to Kuno’s dystopia, who delivers a complete acidic rework over PTN1.

The EP starts with Anopolis 2, a long, disco flavored track, built up gradually with phasing pads , lead melodies and an arpeggiated square bass line. The hypnotic feeling of Anopolis 5 is up next taking things deeper and textural while Anopolis 11 stands strong with it’s relentless acid loop juxtaposed with sharp drums washed in reverb. Audio atlas with some deeper and trippy acid and techno tracks on Mathematics. Sometimes remeniscent of the early Fnac/Fcom days, sometimes going towards a early Chicago vibe. Nice one!
