D’Marc Cantu’s second release on Drone is an introspective, emotive piece of electro. With it’s deep pads, ‘Omega Red’ provides the soundtrack to a trek through the snowy wastes, never letting up and calling through the night. In contrast, under his Rival alias Cantu delivers ‘Sustain’ a ferocious track with monotonous drum lines that slowly takes you into the night.
United over a love of Throbbing Gristle and Chris & Cosey, Richard Fearless partners with artist and writer Sasha Grey on ‘Consequences of Love’, the second single from Death in Vegas’ critically lauded sixth studio album, Transmission. In the spirit of this collaboration, we are thrilled to announce the release of ‘Consequences of Love’ with a remix by iconic electronica pioneers Chris & Cosey. “After listening to the stems we could sense a kind of “October Love Song’ vibe in there so – so that’s kind of what we aimed for. We really enjoyed doing it, there was lots of dancing around the studio while we worked on it.” Chris Carter.
When Richard Maguire is in the mood to make spacey, off-the-wall grit-house, he prefers to go by the name Richard Fearless He’s back on his Drone label with “Overview Effect”, a raw, percussion-driven house cut that falls into the mood end of the spectrum, but contains enough charm and energy to render it a magnificent weapon on the dancefloor. However, the real best is within “Metal Dub” on the B side, and the track’s name describes its sounds only too well, a sublime cascade of wobbly bass tones and rattling drums.
Ann Arbor-based producer D’Marc Cantu will next land on Richard Fearless’ fledgling Drone imprint with the ”Decay” b/w ”Rival” 12”. The two-track record will serve as Drone’s third release.
