With the birth of this new Dublin based record label, Lime Street Music, we have the first debut EP from Marvis Dee the more house leaning alias of mysterious producer Jeremiah R. Marvis offers up six varied analogue house jams from the spacey sounds on Dreams of Another Planet through to the acidic vibes of Jungle Trip and Subconscious then rounded up with the reflective moods of Tapedeck Adventure, Cancun Seventies and Weeks.
Warsaw based imprint Get The Balance Right have demonstrated an interest in retro-inspired sounds of Chicago House and Detroit Techno on previous releases but now venture into electro territory with this various artists compilation. Ever Moving’s “Find A Way” may sound contradictory at start with its gentle, house style keys on top of a dark, booming Aaron Carl style bass groove, but it actually works. Mutual Attraction’s “New Horizon” is simply stunning, a soulful house journey reminiscent of classic Chez Damier or Larry Heard. There are then two electro tracks by Greek electro auteur Itpdwip in the shape of “It Doesnt Hurt Me” and The Waters Of Styx” which sound like early Model 500. It’s the Jeremiah R remix of the latter is a real highlight on here, channeling the best impression of Gerald Donald we’ve heard of late.
From the Rotterdam harbors come the deep and deviant electronic voyages of Jeremiah R. Electro in classic detroit fashion, oozing with Westcoast gravy. An EP crafted for night to dawn, for the floor and the mental cruise. Cop it and drop it! All with mind-bending screen printed inner sleeve by the BAKK Decency Department.
The somewhat mysterious Jeremiah R. is steadily earning a reputation for putting out quality electro. Having first surfaced on London label Organic Analogue, Jeremiah R now boosts his profile further with a seven-track mini-album on the supreme Tabernacle operation which shines further light on his Drexciyan inspirations. It’s not all deranged synths and brittle snares shots though, with tracks “Far Sight” and “Twin Paradox” suiting the Tabernacle mould of jacking, Chicago-themed house music.
