John Barera & Will Martin – Graceless [DOLLY020]

Boston based production duo and room-mates John Barera & Will Martin continue their journey into sculptural, storytelling House music, with their debut album on Dolly – ‘ Graceless’. The pair’s work has found a wider audience since the success of ‘Reality’, which found its way into the hands of Berlin’s Steffi, and acted as a central gear and in her 2013 Panorama 05 Mix. John Barera has been a firm disciple of the House and Techno world for the past 10 years, and after launching Supply Records in 2011 has brought an elegant, resoundingly universal mixture of underground club tracks to the fore. A fresh and fruitful partnership with close friend Will Martin grew out of the pair’s rapidly growing studio, and the latest results can be found here over the 8 cool, classy and refined contemporary House tracks.

John Barera & Will Martin – Milestones [DOLLY018]

John Barera & Will Martin delivering some straight up & effective no-nonsense house music on Dolly 18. Three powerful and euphoric contemporary club tracks with both that classic club feel and that esoteric Detroit touch, effectively combining the best of both worlds. Third Side on the other hand (the hardware techno formation consisting of Dolly labelboss Steffi & The Analogue Cops) is taking things into slightly deeper and darker techno territories with their driving and hypnotic remix of ‘Milestones’… Great allround dj package that will stay in many bags for a long time.

VA – Super MT [SUPPLY008]

The first Supply showcase: four label-newcomers range with veteran authority from deep house to driving techno. The opener is a grooving house burner: an infectious loop and low-slung drums build triumphantly. Anders Hellberg drops in some acid, with a strident 909 beat stalking an open, melodic soundscape. Kicking off the flip, label co-owner JB teams up with Bostonian Paul Morse in an icy, tantalizing variation of elastic, swinging deep-house; before Stojche’s Outward opens up an ending, its pounding beat laced with bitter-sweet Detroit strings.

VA – 1 [DOLLY014]

Outstanding EP on Dolly again, who keeps on delivering at the highest level. Four equally strong tracks (of which three will be featured on Steffi’s upcoming Panoramabar mix cd) by Dexter, Third Side, John Barera & Will Martin, and label lady Steffi herself. Crossing the thin line of contemporary house & techno with slight hints of acid and proper US deep house, but basically all just can described as strong & plain groove, for maximum dancefloor delight.
