Since establishing the illicit My Rules imprint earlier this year, New Yorker Justin Vangdervolgen has used it to deliver a mixture of sneaky edits, hush-hush remixes and sly, sample heavy original productions. “Sketch 2” is towards the rougher end of Vandervolgen’s output, and sees the former man laying down some seriously tough, twisted beats, jagged analogue motifs, bleeping melodies and mind-altering acid lines. It sounds like the sort of sweaty machine jam that will get dancefloors in a frenzy of flailing arms and legs.

The My Rules imprint was set-up by prolific re-editor Justin VanDerVolgen as an outlet for his wares, whilst retaining an element of mystery. This occasional NYC outlet has unearthed two more hidden gems and rewired them perfectly for modern dancefloor destruction. ‘Closer’ is the pure, distilled essence of the Disco strut, powered up and laid out over an unrelenting, insistent groove. ‘Dig Dag’ keeps the energy levels high with a pulsing, sci-fi, Euro Disco extravaganza.

Justin Vandervolgen presents the latest in his Try To Find Me series on Golf Channel. This release is a selection of electric romping disco that gets looped into a frenzy, something Justin has a knack for. Another duo of obscurities, reworked and rendered in glorious 21st century technicolour. The A Side houses a fierce, camp and snare pounding mid-party banger, while the flip carries the Balearic gem ‘Needs Ending’ , a nice chugging electronic disco rhythm, great percussion and dreamy female vocals.

Golf Channel’s leading light and producer / engineer extraordinaire Justin Vandervolgen strikes again! For the label’s tenth release Justin hits us with a wicked double header.
