Powerdance – Powerdance II [PDLP12002]

The Legion of Boogie Down return for their second album inventively titled Powerdance II, adding additional wonk to their future vision of music for night clubs and basements. Formed as a collective by Luke Solomon back in 2017, the music was a reaction to the continuing evolution of genre. The latest album is a continuation on a theme. This time joined by musical partner Chris Penny, rising star Josh Ludlow and original band members Alinka, Lance Desardi amongst others, the live hybrid of fusing wild synths, drums and percussion from the legendary Holly Madge, the band take you in outer space with their trippy spin on disco, funk and house music.

Yoruba serve up the second single taken from Osunlade’s album “A Man With No Past Originating The Future”. Classic co-founder Luke Solomon gets things started with a sizzling tech house make over of Osunlade’s deep gem. On the A2, the master of all things deep, jazzy and experimental Isolee delivers a stunning rework. On the flip, the third remix offering comes from long time Yoruba associate and musical brother Atjazz.  With his signature sound he brings undeniable soul to the bunch while keeping the song’s integrity in tact. Our journey is completed by Yoruba’s own Rafael Moraes, one third of Nomumbah. Deep is the word for this one.

Three tracks on Playhouse with two mighty remixes from Mike Huckaby & Luke Solomon. ‘Slightly’ gets the Huckaby treatment, with classic bass lines and classic and classy Detroit house. The flip sees ‘The Lords Of Sanity’ getting worked by Luke Solomon. Nice to hear LoSoul always gets something special in his tracks that make them stand out of the pack.
