Franco Cangelli with a new release on Mowar. Comes with a Paul Mac remix.

Franco Cangelli works out three deeper, dubbier Techno trax backed with a Russ Gabriel remix for Mowar. ‘She Moves’ conducts a svelte motion with thick subbass and crisply contoured rhythms beside the minimal and moody Neo-Detroit atmospheres of ‘Melancholy’ on the A-side. Flipside Russ Gabriel drags ‘She Moves’ down a gear with a submerged overhaul of ‘She Moves’, and ‘Tunnelling’ digs rolling, offset bass gyrations and trippy chord modulations for the late night crew.

Functional Deep Techno from Mowar’s recent conscript, Searle, backed with a wicked slomo remix from Claro Intelecto. Searle’s original cuts strike upon aquatic acid with ‘Mind Transfer’, hypnotic, industrialized bleeps on ‘Succubus’ and driving acid Techno for ‘Unauthorized’, but the highlight has to be Claro’s gripping, beatdown remix of ‘Mind Transfer’, draggign the tempo down while opening up the space above, while still managing to create the sort of driving intensity you don’t usually feel at this pace.

‘Phantomz’ is the work of Belgian producer Ozka aka David Nizet. The title track sets the tone for the rest of the release: a dark, dense serving of techno propelled by dense beats, relentless filters and a foreboding bassline, it effortlessly captures the sound of 6am in a darkened warehouse. Aubrey is providing a remix to close the EP.

Franco Cangelli returns to his own Mowar label for a four-track EP. Inspired by classic techno and contemporary machinations in equal measure, Cangelli’s palette is varied but sophisticated.

Mowar imprint turns out four tracks of prime techno from Belgium’s Ozka, backed with a pumping Peter Van Hoesen remix. Belgian producer Ozka shows his love for basic mental grooves with clear Detroit and UK techno influences. On remix duty we find Belgium’s Peter Van Hoesen who turns Hidden Roots in a hypnotic warehouse monster dominated by throbbing bassdrums and filtered out chord stabs very much in the vein of his new album.

Franco Cangelli’s Mowar imprint turns out four tracks of prime techno from Belgium’s Ozka, backed with a pumping Peter Van Hoesen remix. The title track shows his years of experience producing for labels such as Dave Angel’s Rotation, smearing smudged dub chords over churning bass groove and strafing percussive syncopations. ‘Intel Dub’ nods to dubstep in a swung style layered with hypnotic chords, kinda like a more melodic Detroit version of Regis’ recent Sandwell tracks. The PvH remix is up to his usual standards, built from the bulbous bass up with crisp claps and shuffling hi-hats for the stick ‘n pivot effect while filtered chords and icy synths infect the atmosphere. Very tidy.

Mowar’s 6th release is delivered by label boss Franco Cangelli, 2 solid deep techno cuts accompanied by an exquisite MLZ treatment.

Originally released on Aubrey’s defunct label Dark, this untitled track is an 8-minute trip into a deep Basic Channel-like atmosphere. Dubbed out techno, melancholically resounding deep chords all layered on reverberating throbbing beats. The release comes with 2 perfectly fitting remixes by Modern Love artists Pendle Coven and Geophone’s Mike Parker.
