Montreal producer Tazz’s take on dance music is both powerful and quirky, characteristics that have endeared him to a wide range of fans. Pinning him down much further is a harder task. Tazz tends to lay down straight-laced, tech-house rhythms, but his growing arsenal of synth sounds lend his tracks a more experimental edge. Science Friction is his second effort for Adam Marshall’s New Kanada, and it finds him in typical form.

Montreal-native Tazz delivers New Kanada three jacking and psychotic beat trax. Tazz and Bacanito unravel the threads of aggression in the lead cut ”Cosmic Sex”. Metallic heavy machine funk for those winter nights. ”Wanderer” is a late night ode to Model 500, with waves of synths burrowing into the ground to produce a dark wave classic. Cold, pure and supple. ”Mermaids and Mermen” is is the tough club killer in the package. A deep tricky dub transforms into an underwater symphony of rusted hooks and FM pad.

Stuart Li aka Basic Soul Unit with 4 new cuts of submerged bass excursions for Nouveau Kanada. All tracks sound distinctly raw and heavy, but with modern nods to UK bass and spatial elektro. Stuart’s deep appreciation of dusty house grooves shines through on all tracks – but his treatment of the lead cut Deep Diving pays homage to those dope Dance Mania B-sides of yore.

New Kanada presents a collection of superbly deep and tight house tracks by Seuil. All three cuts here are made for the long mix; blending elements of classic house, deep techno and random dopeness into a very modern whole.
