New Yorks not so secret weapon Reade Truth is back for his solo EP on n s y d e. After the well received split EP together with release brother Mobach on nsyde008, which received quite some attention from the Technocircle not at least, due to the support of a man called Marcel Dettmann, the true New York Techno at its best is taking place on nsyde014!
nsyde is starting a new series of releases, and Volume 1 comes from close label artist and friend Mobach. Entitled XieniX (which is a phonetical Dutch spelling for “I can’t see anything”) the series is named after an influential 90s club in the city of Gouda that made a lasting impact on the young Mobach.
Christopher Rau, best known for reliable, soothing and airy deep house, debuts on Nsyde with a fresh alias T.R. Early Earl / The Royal Earl Company.
Finnish deep house champ Trevor Deep Jr takes a break from releasing for Delsin and his own HPTY imprint to drop this delectable set of jams for Nsyde. There is a distinct dubby lilt to Trevor’s output, and that comes through in abundance with the carefully treated chord that pulses through the core of lead track “Merge”. However that track is still operating in the Basic Channel school of dub, while “Blunted” flips the script to a Rhythm & Sound style romp through rootsy steppers rhythms and choice guitar plucks. “Believe Dub” ramps the energy back up with a housey groove around which cavernous synths can echo and throb, making for a damn fine addition to the tradition of dubwise dance music.
Samuel André Madsen from Denmark knows how to combine single elements into a groove collage defying all stereotypes. Northwest Cave Groove is brushed lightly against the grain, against all expectations, opens up once the chords hit. Moodsy opens with a warm hypnotic sound carpet that is hard to resist. The following breaks sends the track into stasis. Finally, Achterbahn D ´Amour rebuild the original track into an epic, tercet-laden, 9 min. acid monster with a classic 808/909 barrage. At the end elegiac strings convert it into a and yet surprisingly thriving field of flowers.
Imugem Orihasam succeeds like no other to balance apparent opposites by using cool and clear transparency in contrast to the mesmerizing and warm pulsating soundscapes to create depth of the highest quality.A1 “Gleam From Distant Gate” is one of those tracks which seem quite unremarkable first, but with the time it creates a massiv hypnotic attraction, a wormhole-like effect you cannot escape from. That space seems endless, just right big enough to loose yourself in it. B1 “Misty Evening” seems to be just the right soundtrack to build an underwater metropolisis. It starts building a 2 minute elevated tension before its firering on all cylinders. B2 “Kotoni” is clearest balance and harmony.
Kevin Reynolds, showcasing his savvy for deep mesmerizing grooves, he brings us two tracks for the mind, the body and the soul, ready to conquer dancefloors worldwide. Fusing raw tribal elements with warm strings and chords, Kevin creates his own fresh trademark flavour, paying hommage to the original techno soul of his hometown along the way. Keeping traditions alive by retroperspective modernism.
