Jimmy The Hand – Paitience EP [ORN034]

Purveyors of deep-tinged electronic grooves since 2008, Ornate Music returns for their next analogue emission. Dropping four refreshingly shaped cuts from mysterious Bolton boy: Jimmy The Hand. A seriously talented artist and shaper of off-kilter sonics, Jimmy works his alchemy in all the right places on this impressive collection of creations. Punchy drums and uplit mood colour the way in opener ‘Nail Varnish”, as ‘Delve Deep’ opens the Arps to crunched drums, setting the mind to cycle with impressive effect. Over on the flip, rising pads and rhythmic shuffle fuse with warped effects as you skip through the sunny climes of ‘That’s More Like It’. Last but not least, you’re met with the RAW punch of ‘Breath’: a full complement of Millsian influenced psychotropia that leaves you screaming for more, you’ve been warned.

Nail presents Sentipede – Eggs EP [ORN029]

The latest drop on Ornate sees Neil Tolliday’s Nail project metamorphose into Sentipede. His illustrious track record in UK house and techno has touched on all kinds of ventures since the DIY days, and now he’s presenting something very special indeed for Ornate. The vibe on these tracks is more taut and techy, with “313151” opening proceedings on a bubbling bed of acid before the rubbery monosynth jack of “44151” on the B side. Keeping things locked into this nervy strain of warehouse tackle, “3131154” finishes the record off with some even more audacious 303 lines that will dig right into your synapses and give ’em a twist, in the nicest possible way of course.

Reedale Rise – Barbary Coast EP [ORN027]

Since 2015 Reedale Rise’s refined strand of electro and techno has quickly established him as one of the most inventive artists operating in the current crop of machine manipulators coming out of the UK underground. Liverpool-based producer Simon Keat has released a prolific body of work under the alias in a short space of time, notching up appearances on crucial labels such as Frustrated Funk, Hizou, Where We Met and many more besides. With a sound indebted to the early wave of UK techno artists like B12, the electro experimentation of Silicon Scally as well as Detroit forefathers such as Drexciya and Model 500, it’s not hard to see why Reedale Rise makes perfect sense on Ornate. Technically astounding and emotionally charged, across all three tracks ORN027 marries shimmering, hi-def synth lines with crisp rhythms spanning 2-step shuffle, broken beats and understated techno propulsion.

Jayson Wynters – Latitude EP [ORN026]

Ornate Music welcomes Birmingham talent Jayson Wynters. Wynters serves two original tracks that further shape out his deeply hypnotic approach to house music. Alongside the immersive allure of Wynters’ originals, rising talent Caldera offers up a stripped back, meditative broken beat remix of “Ancient Tones”. The Latitude EP is a natural fit for Ornate, giving Wynters and Caldera free reign to show off their uniquely mesmerizing styles of contemporary house and techno.

Jonno & Tommo – Close The Door EP [ORN018]

Jonno & Tommo consummate their production partnership with a return to Ornate to delve further into the hypnotic, soulful end of the house spectrum. “Close The Door” stretches across the A-side of their new release, the tough demeanour of the drum-heavy intro giving way to a serene pad arrangement, setting the tone for a starlit workout bolstered by an infectious hook of dusty vocal and subtle sonic decoration that accentuates the groove. “Small Stone” represents a more reflective mood on the flip, steadily feeding in reams of rhythm and melody before fully blossoming into an equally seductive, bumping jam laced with a perfectly pitched acid line that nestles into the cosy confines of the track.Secret weapon of the capital’s underground house fraternity, Miles Sagnia steps up with a simmering remix of “Small Stone” that keeps the tension high and the textures roaming through a decidedly futuristic soundscape, while still retaining the ethereal tone of the original.

Miles Sagnia – Astrobiological Funk EP [ORN008]

SAGNIA, Miles - Astrobiological Funk EP (Front Cover)

New Ornate Music from Miles Sagnia. The A side is reserved for the lush, monolithic acid work out that is ‘Interplanetary Visitors’. On the flip ‘Bounce Theory’ sets its stall out with a future thinking, hip shaking house groove. And ‘Twilight’ gives a nod to old school Chicago, but has its mind out amongst the stars.
