Following the Lake Haze’s last Shall Not Fade release – a worldbuilding album that paid tribute to video game aesthetics – Pure Movements EP proves yet again his versatility. Whilst Henosis LP dabbled in ambient, his latest sees this direction take full form. Contemplative ambience invites us to melt into it, with reverb-drenched acid melodies adding enough unease to keep us on our toes. Add in some deep, off-kilter bass throbs and this one is a real treat to the ears. Lock in and drift away.
DASCO is responsible for our next Shall Not Fade release. Born in Tel Aviv, based in Berlin, she spreads her infectious energy wherever she goes. Powerful Woman captures this spirit perfectly, bursting with subaquatic syths, acid melodies and retro claps which bolster celebratory lyrics about womanhood and strength. If that weren’t enough, Johannes Volk and Chicago Skyway step up to remix duties, the former providing a punchy take on ‘Powerful Woman’, and the latter, a squelchy square-wave flip.
The next release on Shall Not Fade comes from none other than deep house legend, Fred P. Also renowned for his musical offerings as Black Jazz Consortium, the New York-bred, Berlin-based producer is accredited with over 100 releases, all instantly recognisable given their warmth, depth and modesty. ‘Out All Night’ EP is no exception, containing three instant classics which range from the more playful, skippier side of the house spectrum to a deeper, more contemplative one.
Welsh producer / DJ Harrison BDP makes his debut on Shall Not Fade with some of his most weighty productions to date. ‘Sound Expansion Meditation’ takes the listener on a voyage of discovery with spacey synths, dusty drum sequences and floating bass riffs.
