“Freundlich II“ is the follow up of Freund der Familie’s “Freundlich” 12“ which was released in 2014 on Telrae. The A-side track “Mash Up” is a deep setup of electronica. Somehow futuristic, alienated and claustrophobic. It could it be the soundtrack for a vintage science fiction movie. Or in other words: pulsating beats imbedded in a sea of sounds, noises and FX that generate life. “Seconds” joins in with ghostly dark sounds that in the course of the track are accompanied by a steady beat.
The Munich born sound architect, Cio D’or, comes with the her second release for Talrae. “OFF” describes a biotope in which two different poles gently collide. Rooms of reverb meet orchestral sounds meet acoustic clicks, in a process of an ongoing motion, where there is no beginning and no end. The flip side highlights “AND ON” and shows white horses amongst waves of sounds. This track could be an electronic soundtrack to a day at an isolated beach in the Indian ocean.
The new Salz release on Telrae kicks off with their rework of the “Call Of Cthulhu” and is dedicated to the early days of Berlin techno and therefore a reminiscence to the period which has been most influential to the duo. The recording is again powerful and impressive and enables one to float on it in perfection. The Salz dub remix of ” Fox In The Box” has always been one of the favorites of theirs and comes here for the first time on vinyl.
