Mark Verbos – Walk The Distance [BK013]

The Bunker New York presents a surprise EP from veteran techno producer Mark Verbos – a man whose discography stretches back over 20 years – fits that remit. Flitting between acid-laden psychedelic intensity (“Just A Little Late”), high-octane loop jams (“In The Back Room”) and sweaty, all-out assaults on the senses (the metallic madness that is “Start Up Drive”), it portrays Verbos as a masterful producer of no-holds-barred dancefloor techno. Interestingly, he diverts a little from the script on the EP’s final moment, “Walk The Distance”, combining sparse dub techno rhythms and ghostly electronics.

Romans – Ambulare Aude [BK012]

The Bunker New York delivers a second collaborative Romans EP from Gunnar Haslam and acid obsessive Tin Man. They go in hard from the off, blending extended analogue bass, metronomic rhythms and wiggly acid lines on “Enoma”. There’s a classic bleep feel about the ghostly chords on “Coptos”, which seemingly float above a hard-as-nails techno groove. They seem to soften a little on “Delenium”, which pairs the uplifting, end-of-night ethos of progressive house with classic Detroit techno sounds.

Reagenz – The Periodic Tale [BK010]

Few projects in electronic music have remained at the very cutting edge for as long as Reagenz, a collaboration between San Francisco based Jonah Sharp aka Spacetime Continuum and Heidelberg based David Moufang aka Move D. Twenty years after their first project, comes The Periodic Table, a stunning live album captured at The Bunkers tenth anniversary party at Public Assembly, Brooklyn, January 2013. The Periodic Table incorporates elements of house, techno and ambient in an organic flow that few artists could replicate.

Løt.te – Pressure Chant EP [BK004]

Løt.te is Mehmet Irdel, a Turkish-born artist who has been a friend of The Bunker for a long time. He’s currently based in Brooklyn, where he co-runs Rote Productions, a company that releases music, graphic works, video compositions, and photography, and takes a strong stance against the concept of intellectual property. Irdel’s early work consisted of soundscapes, noise, and power electronics. Now, he’s trying his hand at techno, with incredible results. “Pressure Chant” has immense energy and a Surgeon-like shuffle. “Private Transgressions” juxtaposes a dark, cinematic mood with a dubby bass line and synth stabs.

Voices From The Lake – Velo Di Maya [BK003]

Excellent techno gear on Bunker New York. Voices From The Lake are Donato Dozzy and Neel, a duo that has redefined techno in both the live arena and the album format. In July of 2012, Voices From The Lake came from Rome to Brooklyn to present a special night of music at The Bunker in the back room of Public Assembly. This was one of the greatest nights of music in the history of The Bunker. Their tremendous sixhour set consisted of two separate live sets, and back-to-back DJ sets. None of the music from the either of the hour-long live sets had been released, so the label immediately got on them about their plans for the tracks. They agreed on their favorite segments, and they produced live studio tracks based on those excerpts. A few Voices From The Lake tracks have come out since the album, but this is their first full release since 2012.
