Milano’s Uabos and Slow Motion Records member Andrea Tempo join forces for a thunderous EP combining their powerful signature sounds. Includes remixes from Altieri and Armonics.

For his latest release on Bordello, Uabos builds on his past sound while folding new elements into his layered style. “Shadow” is the eponymous introduction, a track that sways between dawn and dusk, light and dark, as it dances between bright addictive keys and twilight tones. That search for contrast is carried into the thick beats of “Egoland”, beats countered by cascading notes that slip and slide from sweetened funk to devil-may-care debauchery. Industrial undercurrents and greying skies arrive with the Chicago inspired fuel that is “Elevator.” The curtain fall comes in the aptly named “Emotion.” A supremely powerful piece of snapping snares, full-bodied bass and cutting keys for a terrific finale for a terrific 12”.

Spring is in the air and Matteo Pepe, aka Uabos, is taking away that winter chill with four tracks of house warmth and machine funk. Acid bars float on crisp claps for the uplifting “Mystic Force”. The Italian keeps the floor stoked with the sample strewn grooves of “Copacabana” before the synths take over with the lush chords of “City Woods”.“Karmic Souls” closes, meandering notes bend and shimmer on clean percussion for an exotic climax to an EP of ambitious analogue delights.

Ali Renault lands on Bordello A Parigi with a four tracker of leftfield electro pop. ‘Altro Mondo’ screams out of the traps, bulbous bass lines elbow sweetened chords and snapping beats. ‘Fume’ grows from the same soil. Analogue warmth is brushed, even bruised, by the crack and whip of rhythms; a touch of EBM bitterness blended with Italo hope. Nowhere is this more evident than in…’Nowhere’, a buckled dancefloor romp with the king of Milano, Fred Ventura, offering vocals. Uabos maintains the tension for the finale, uplifting house currents coursing through his remix of ‘Lenticular’.

Matteo Pepe aka Uabos returns to Bitter Moon. Building on his first outing, A Point of View opens with the warming 303 grooves of “A Point of View.” Clean beats and lush notes weave in this playful house encounter. Those same crisp rhythms are present in the funk filled “Groove Is A Mystery” before slow burning beauty of “Piano Fights”, a track that will simply ignite anything it comes in contact with. Bright and energetic, “Semen Without Touch” ends the EP, shimmering bars and playful twists wind together for a colourful close.

UABOS, aka Matteo Pepe, is a young and rising star from the fashion capital of Europe. This Milan musician melts the Mediterranean with 707 attitude, connecting his homeland with the iconic floor grooves of Chicago.
