Type-303 makes his first appearance on Cold Blow with ‘Enigmatic Dreams’, a six-track 12″ that balances acid with the softer, more melodic end of early-’90s Italian house. ‘Enigmatic Dreams’ doesn’t sit still for long, offering acid one minute, Balearic drift the next, then straight into something that could’ve come off an early-90s house white label. The big story here is ‘Atlantic Dreams,’ a collaboration with Dr. Rhythm aka Mark Woollard, whose old material got a second life through a previous reissue. Turns out Woollard kept composing for music libraries long after those original records, and buried in that archive was something with the exact same warmth. Type-303 picked it up and ran with it, turning a decades-old idea into something new. The rest of the record features ‘Paradise’ and ‘Morning (Ambient Mix)’, which both drift toward that dreamy, sun-bleached Italian sound that’s perfect this time of year.
