Convextion – Acido 22 [ACIDO022]
Haunting soundscapes w/ blend of vintage Electronics & retro-futuristic Techno Ambient from Convextion.
VA – Acido 20 [ACIDO020]
Never a label to be afraid of bucking expectations, the 20th Acido releases sees founder Dynamo Dreesen collaborating with regular colluder SVN and, surprisingly, Dave ‘A Made Up Sound’ Huismans. Of the three untitled tracks, it’s the A side where the production touch of A Made Up Sound is most discernible, thanks to the skipping, stripped back rhythmic kicks that propel the cut forwards. You can totally see Ben UFO getting plenty of mileage out of this one. It is the B side where the abstract inclinations of SVN and Dreesen come to the fore, with “Track 2” sinking meandering drums in a thick, foggy soup of sonics and delayed modular bleeps whilst the final track is jittering, minimal electronics at its most paranoid.
Karl Lukas Pettersson – Paradise Island [ACIDO019]
Karl Lukas Petterson aka Luke Eargoggle took a turn into a different direction and the outcome is on Dynamo Dreesen’s imprint Acido. Some crafty 1980s Wave / Electro / Disco leaning tunes.
Dresvn – Acido 16 [ACIDO016]
Tase – Acido 13 [ACIDO013]
Nice bubbly submerged techno tracks of which the a-side leans towards soundscapes and the flip more into the deeper trippy techno realms.
VA – Soundtracks For No Film Vol.1 [ACIDO012]
Soundtracks For No Film Vol. 1 is a rather charming mini album of outer-spatial, conceptual electronics from the always on point Acido Records label, seemingly tasking contributors to deliver arrangements worthy of soundtracking film. Madteo sets the tone with “Science Fiction” a haunting spectral cut with little regard for beat structures that could feasibly sit in alongside his brilliant LP for Sahko last year. Alongside this, the A Side features three short form productions, with 291out’s “Urania (Titoli Di Coda)” the highlight, sounding very much like the music you might hear during the end credits of a forgotten 80s sci-fi drama. Complementing this, sometime Sex Tags Mania artist Doc L Junior is given the whole of the B Side to draw out an expansive, epic synthscapes “Modul 2”.
Transilvanian Galaxi – You Have Always Been The Caretaker [ACIDO010]
Atmospheric House/Techni from Transilvanian Galaxi. “You Have Always Been The Caretaker” on the A-side is over 9 minutes of subterrainian atmospheres and mournful strings, one for the instrospective moments in the early hours. On the flip “Sequence 2” and “God DR-55” head even futher away from the dancefloor (though in the right heads they’d sound fantasic, especially on a big system) and towards the contemplative and esoteric.
DJ Sotofett – Acido Records Presents DJ Sotofett [ACIDO009]
Selected by Acido Records’ Dynamo Dreesen, five tracks feat. the talents of Bjørn Torske, Sensational and Tim ”Love” Lee all remixed and prod. by DJ Sotofett. In the times of cheap loops this 12” purifyes the old school dee-jay attitude with the coherent limitations of record jugling, remixing, archive digging and intuitive live studio recordings.
Dynamo Dreesen and SVN – Woodlandscene [ACIDO008]
Mini album from original raw Chicago house to atmospheric chilled electronics – with kind of Sahko style minimalistic approach.
