Already in the second quarter of the year, the time it’s well passed to have a look back at what happened in terms of music production by Romanian artist in last year and what to expect in 2023.
2022 was pretty dry and chill year for the Romanian producers, with not many impressing achievements. We are still revolving around the same few figures, with very little coming forward besides the rominimal scene, but 2023 is looking more promising.


There is a place in this universe called Ploiești. A former industrial city, grey, totally colorless. This is where the story begins for A Dublu, a project founded in 2012 by Ardeleanu Bogdan and Andu Simion, when they created musical sequences inspired by Cameliei or Vlasiei areas. Geodesic 003, or Polytraffic EP is a collection of tracks suitable for different moments in a clubbing night, acid textures, warm synths for warm-up but also techno directions perfect for more aggressive sessions or more alert bpm.

“Not So Whisky Tracks” comes, without any doubt, to present a matured vision of some of the usual suspects of the Romanian underground scene but also gathers new forces along the way. The Lisiere Collectif trio returns on their own label with LSR No. 04 EP, a collection of three original tracks, genuine worked for different moments of a clubnight.

Nice moody deep melodic techno tracks on Detroits Moods & Grooves records. Ploiesti Romania area childhood friends Andu Simion, Dan Gheorghe and Bogdan Ardeleanu are inspired by Detroit’s house sound and Berlin’s techno. Their resulting collaboration is best described as “deep techno” and their first release is appropriately on Moods & Grooves known for pushing both envelopes. ‘Les sons de la Lisière’ is a reflection of the beauty and silence of nature found in the suburbs of Ploiesti.
