In anticipation of the highly awaited LP ‘Cafe Futuro,’ Franz Scala releases ‘Crush Test.’ This track features Charlie, Wrong Era’s own enigmatic electro icon. ‘Crush Test’ captivates listeners with Scala’s menacing bass arps and haunting whispers. Continuing their collaborative efforts, Scala and Charlie evoke the celebrated essence of the Neukölln melting pot, drawing a ballad on kindred memories and welcoming listeners into the atmosphere of before.

After launching his own record label “Biloba,” Raffaele Arcella, aka Whodamanny, returns to Periodica with a limited-edition double tracker infused with unmistakable Italo-disco vibes and a Latin touch. Placebo and Loca Loca deliver rhythm with depth, reminding us how vacations can feel like a fleeting illusion of escape from reality—and how much nostalgia lingers in the memories of summer nightlife.

Red Laser Records switches on the smoke machine and strobe light, dishes out the high grade poppers and continues with the most unprofessional approach in the biz as they celebrate their FIFTIETH fuckin’ release – a double disc photon torpedo diving into the label’s roster and featuring all new tracks from RL stalwarts across the ages. Marking this half century milestone, their in-house graphics team have been on a strict diet of kryptonite and engine oil, conjuring up one of the most lavish (and budget destroying) gatefold sleeves to date; alongside personal insights (and an in-depth cigar review) on their 13 year journey from label heads Il Bosco and Pharaoh Brunson.

Franz Scala, head of Slow Motion Records and Italo Pioneer, launches his Cafe Futuro LP with the new-beat, instant classic “Saxon Rebel”. Cafe Futuro, once the homebase meeting point for the true italo music soul of Neukölln now encapsules an album that is both forward thinking and filled with italian dance wave nostalgia that is the very proper will of Franz Scala. The single features striking vocals from Local Suicide and embodies Scala’s forward-thinking, proto-house nature. It includes both vocal and instrumental versions. With its refined flashes of the past combined with intense dancefloor energy, “Saxon Rebel” showcases the strengths of true IDW fashion.

Best Record offers a reissue of the highly sought-after by the Roaring Mosquitoes. Further to enrich this reissue, the release is completed with two splendid edits by the Australian DJ-producer George Hysteric, recognized as one of the world’s foremost authorities and a leading figure in Italo-Disco. The juxtaposition of the two songs performed with grit and physicality by cousins Agostina and Antonietta Casalino (aka Roaring Mosquitoes) highlights two aesthetically and rhythmically similar approaches, yet with different roots and inspirations.

Kid Machine returns with his 7th album and features ten spaced out, robotic Italo-Disco / Electro dancefloor destroyers covering various cosmic vibes. Expect the usual catchy melodies, big slamming beats, chugging basslines, sci fi sounds and vocoders.

Slow Motion affiliate Radondo returns to the “A UFO” free edit series with his high-octane rework of Mac Jr.’s “Elephant Song.” The vibrant energy of the original track is enhanced by Radondo’s signature percussive instrumentation and metallic flair. By sacrificing the original vocals, he creates a version that focuses more on the instrumental elements, capturing the captivating, energetic essence of the 1984 ZYX gem.

”Stop” is the emblem of Italo-Disco par excellence even if in 1983 it was inserted by Carlo Favilli and Stefano Zito on the B-side of the 12”of the nascent label House of Music. However, the song, although recorded in a hurry and with evident sound defects, is the perfect example of the musical genre that was developing in Italy in those very early 80s. Now, four decades later, Stop 4 Remixes breathes new life into the cult classic with four dynamic reworks. Woody Bianchi delivers a masterclass in mixing with ‘Pushed Up’ while Danilo Braca (aka Danyb) offers two deep, expansive edits tailored for discerning dancefloors. Dirtyelements & Drunkdrivers bring the fire with their ‘Acid Re-Solution Remix’ that’s full of passion, precision and some nice wild energy. These are great tributes to a track that helped launch the Italo-disco movement into orbit.

Mr. Computer sees two figureheads of Dutch electronics pay homage to the voice of electro disco, the vocoder. Figi and Luca dell’Orso team up to sing praise of a tool that has crossed genres and styles and give the little metal larynx deserved limelight on their own three track theatre. Rumbling bass is shot through with crisp snaps in the title piece, warbling vocals rising as keys dance in this wonderful collaboration.

Brazilian artist Tjor returns to Wrong Era with his 5-track EP ‘Multiflex’. This release showcases his unique blend of brooding arrangements and hopeful, esoteric tones, highlighting his remarkable ability to continuously evolve sonically. Opening with a rich kick and harmonious pads, ‘Hyperdrive’ sets a robust tone and reinforces Tjor’s sonic charm. Swelling to an acidic echo of the purity of 1980s Chicago house, his innovative approach courses through the track.

With the reissue of ”Magic” the circle of the works originally published by Eyes Records and composed in the earliest 80s by Celso Valli is completed: Future State, Blue Gas and now precisely Five Sinners. Best Record thus creates ”the triplet” of the Italo-Disco operas made by the immense musician from Bologna. This release includes also a new captivating version of ”Magic” skillfully remixed by the talented Italian-Australian DJ-producer Dave Mathmos.

Re-press of this classic Disco EP by Marcello Giordani. This one was originally released on vinyl back in 2006 on the now defunct sub-label ”Players Paradise” and was one of the first ever releases by Marcello Giordani who went on to become a household name in the scene.
