Manuel Tur – Es Cub [FRLP033]

Spontaneity, simplicity and playfulness, combined with the warmth and solitude of an Ibizan hideaway, not to mention the cold, industrial minimalism of Manuels Ruhr Valley Essen roots all make for an interesting fusion on Es Cub. Take opener Ara Anam for example, we could just as easily be on the Space Terrace as we could at Panarama Bar. Tracks such as Werk and Flux combine hints of clipped minimalism with the driving, analogue synth sounds of say Ame or Baikal whilst About To Fall and El Soplo contain both depth and a certain majestic beauty gained from the simple, stripped back, rolling beats and flowing pads. Far from being the throwaway sketches that Manuel modestly implies, we hear strong melodic motifs and hooky samples appearing throughout the entire LP which brings a unique identity to each track as well as adding a cohesive gel to Es Cub.

Jimpster – These Times (Remixes) [FR178]

Jimpster’s These Times proved to be a successful release, garnering love and support from right across the board. Here Freerange present two remixes by Dixon and Manuel Tur. Here we’re very proud to present the fruits of his labour, as well as a stunning remix from Manuel Tur. Dixon keeps the original vibe intact but reduces the groove perfectly and extends the arrangement for a deep, epic vocal version aimed squarely at the dancefloor. Manuel goes into the abyss with a darker, hypnotic feeling, pushing Jinadu’s vocals to the fore and working up a stripped back groove punctuated with ring modulated chime FX.

Manuel Tur – Foolin’ [DOG020]

Manuel Tur returns to Delusions with a (bi) polar opposite in the form of the ‘Foolinʼ’ EP. The title track is a beautiful slice of soul-drenched house which goes for a classic sound with simple horn chords, rolling bass and incessant claps spicing up the groove. Flipping over we have ‘The Traveller’ which sees Manuel head down slightly more familiar territory with a heavy, lo-slung groove providing the backdrop for some Axelrod-style strings and horns, live bass and floating vocal adlibs. A subtley haunting soundtrack feel pervedes as the arrangement developes but the relentless driving beats make sure this track never strays far from the dancefloor.

Manuel Tur – Beasts And The Birds EP [DOG08]

disc

Fianchetto opts for a dark, spaced-out and deeply hypnotic vibe full of warm, subby disco beats, shimmering Rhodes and echoing horns.. Next up we have Beasts And The Birds which goes for a heavy looped up disco approach full of raw Detroit sensibilities and attitude. Finally, Tim Toh stretches out Beasts And The Birds into a 9 minute journey into abstract dance.

Manuel Tur – Agrafena [MILD004]

Mild Pitch return with their first release in the new decade and serve you Manuel Tur’s solo debut on the young Essen-based label. Opening the EP with the sizzling beatless prelude that is “The Priceless Message”, the title track “Agrafena” carries on with heavy rough drums and countless layers of shifting vibes and strings that grow to a swirl of epic dimension. The dramatic build-up and fuzzy textures create that trademark dense atmosphere Manuel’s work is best known for. The flip side offers a more experimental take, fusing the stomping and jazzy drums of “Agrafena” with the deconstructed sound fragments of the prelude, that make “Dream & Delirium” a truly phantasmagoric yet mysteriously dark but hot-blooded affair.
