‘Thinking the Same Thoughts’ is the debut single from Modern Artifacts, the new project of Budapest-based artist and musician Imre Kiss. The track features British producer, songwriter, and vocalist Rich File, formerly of UNKLE, and offers the first introduction to the forthcoming Modern Artifacts album. Blending trip hop, shoegaze, and electronica, the track pairs hazy synths and hypnotic rhythms with Rich File’s distinctive vocals. The release is completed by a characteristically off-kilter remix from legendary Dutch producer Legowelt, who takes the track into a rawer, more dubby space, with swirling echoes, sporadic vocal fragments, and an overdriven 808 groove. Think shoegaze meeting Memphis rap and old-school Aphex Twin.
