Jean Louis Huhta – Wormhole Of Time [OA009]

HUHTA, Jean Louis - Wormhole Of Time

Jean-Louis Huhta is best known these days as Dungeon Acid, but the Trinidadian-Swedish techno maverick has a long and varied musical past that touches on punk, industrial and funk as much as contemporary club music. The latest release on Organic Analogue digs back into the archives of his prolific 90s period to offer up kinked machine jams that spit and snarl with non-conformist noise, shining a light on a somewhat overlooked talent with his own idiosyncratic take on the techno tradition. The tracks that make up “Wormhole Of Time” comprise both unreleased cuts and some long out-of-print jams from the ‘90s, spanning many of Huhta’s aliases he adopted at the time.

HVL – Ostati [OA008]

After releasing HVL’s Away From Everything We Know 12” back in 2015, Organic Analogue welcome the Georgian producer back to present his long-awaited debut album. As a resident of the much-vaunted club BASSIANI, HVL conceived Ostati as a document of the sound of Tbilisi – centred on warm, outboard house and techno but with a noticeably understated mood. The club tracks take a pared down approach that favours space and meditation over bold brush strokes, but between the teeth-gnashing bite of ”Askinkila” or the rough and ready acid workout ”Continuum,” the sound is gutsy and dripping with character. Ostati spells out a space where dim lights and mysterious corners provide a playground for wild ideas to dart around in the dark. The overall atmosphere may appear subdued, but it’s merely a cover for the fiery spirit lurking underneath.”

Marvis Dee – Alpha [OA006]

Organic Analogue’s time-slipping journey into classic/future-gazing electronics continues with the arrival of Marvis Dee. This new 12″ is in fact the brainchild of Jeremiah R, the Dutch electro maverick. As Marvis Dee he’s been equally busy over the past two years, with a spin on deep Chicago house. On the Alpha EP, Marvis Dee has ample space to explore the boundaries of his sound across six original productions that strike a unique, curious chord even as they display the comforting hallmarks of hardware house music. With jacking 707 drums, punchy basslines, tumbling toms and soaring pads notes with sweet-natured harmonic. This is not house music to spell out how you should be feeling. Orgue Electronique is the perfect match for the woozy tones of Marvis Dee, and so the Dutch mainstay takes to “I Can See It In My Dreams” and delivers a powerful revision to the original production. It’s a respectful approach to the remix tradition that aligns with the overall ethos of the Alpha EP.

Aleks – Pool Daze [OA005]

Rising talent Aleks joins the Organic Analogue realm of spiritual sonic exploration. The Amsterdam-based producer has already made a name for himself in the past few years with his penchant for sci-fi imagery and impeccable hardware jams, hence he feels like a natural fit for OA. This double LP release provides the chance to hear some of the breadth in Aleks productions, from ambient submersions to Detroitian techno and sharp edged 303 resonance that skirts the divide between jacking club material and emotional content. HVL returns to OA with a frankly stunning remix of “Pool Daze” that steps up to the giants of early electronica. As an additional treat, the Georgian producer has also donned his Kiyadama guise for the eight-minute psych-out “Acid Expansion Remix” of “Void”. Capturing the foggy time-slip quality of the dancefloor with a sound that could just as easily come from the late morning, the Pool Daze LP is equally comfortable as another thread in the OA tapestry.

HVL - Away From Everything We Know

Organic Analogue Records returns to present its second release from Georgian producer HVL. Away From Everything We Know, is the perfect balance struck between a meditative state and playful electronic experimentation, for all its subtlety it’s an incredibly detailed piece of work that deals in myriad layers of tone and pulse. To bring a fresh perspective, LA-based artist Gabriel Reyes-Whittaker, perhaps better known for his Gifted & Blessed project, steps into The Reflektor guise to drop a plush remix of ”Away From Everything We Know”.
