2024 Best Tracks part 8 (of 10)

We start presenting our favorite tracks from 2024. More or less in a chronological order we present here the eight set of tracks.

We begin today’s voyage with ‘Jihad’ by Sneaker released on The Black Lodge. ‘Jihad’ is a sluggish and slogging piece that unforgivingly drags us through the grime and the dirt in a ritualistic fashion that would have the ghost of Georges Bataille dancing in circles. Voices call out and howl into the dark as the drum patterns of the 707 rhythmically grasps onto its anarchic components. In the dark, we can see the light beyond the known universe.

Los Angeles-based duo OP-ART, the band of Andrew Clinco and Tyler Green, is a project born out of the creative isolation of the lockdown era. ‘The Final Act‘, their debut on Cititrax, is a testament to the duo’s ability to blend evocative sounds and catchy melodies with profound emotional depth and thoughtful lyrics.

Sustain’ by Altinbas, released on Fuse Imprint, is a dancefloor-enveloping take on modern techno. Known for rich chords, whipping pads, and dry percussion, Altinbas proves once again that his touch as a producer revolves around balance and calculated effect.

Daniel Monaco returns on the Rush Hour Store Jams imprint with the disco heavy tracker ‘Mamela‘, with vocals from TK daMonza.

Minimal wave pioneer Das Ding aka Danny Bosten is back after ten years on Electronic Emergencies with a nicely curated collection of archival tracks sourced from early 80s tape recordings. Our favorite one is ‘Bad Boy‘.

Shades Of Blur is a newly unveiled secret label by one of the most esteemed artists in the scene and the inaugural record comes from SZOP. ‘Plama 1‘ is pure electro post-punk that infuses a bit of EBM and techno.

Fabio Monesi teamed up with Tom Carruthers to deliver some pure house music for Wilson Records.

Step into the realm of legends with the extraordinary ‘This Thing (Tribute Mix)‘ by Lukas Lyrestam & Simoncino featuring the iconic Robert Owens released by Skylax Records.

Three groove heavyweights Jamie 326, Young Pulse and Danou P unite their forces as Mystic Freaks unite for Frappé Records. ‘Pressure‘ is sexy, dirty and relentless, dripping with funk and disco influences a cosmic Disco House flight.

The second track from our favorite tracks from 2024 coming from Chicago underground legend Mark Grusane and his label Disctechno. ‘Take Me‘ uses a driving bassline, infectious synth fills and filtered arps and pads to build up an electrified disco heater with sweat-soaked NRG. Saucy Lady’s seductive, dubbed out vocals bounce off the walls with a repeating mantra of ”just take me” and spoken words from a creature of the night.

More to come. Stay tuned.
