Super Rhythm Trax release their first record of 2017 and it’s a return for Jared Wilson who steps up with four tracks of Deep Acidic House music. These tracks burrow away and are certified ear-worms from the opening ‘Getting That Feeling’ with it’s warm bassline complimented by lush pads and on the other end of the scale, the sparse menace of ‘It’s The Message’, it’s another great EP from the Detroit Acid don.
DJ/Producer from Merseyside UK, John Heckle has produced records for Mathematics Recordings, Tabernacle Records, Crème Organization, Lunar Disko and more. His releases include two full length studio albums, The Second Son and Desolate Figures (as well as The Last Magic Maker mini-album), plus multiple singles, remixes and EPs. Now he makes his debut on Chiwax with some more machine jacking house tracks.
Matrixxman has been a Dekmantel regular for a couple of years now. The San Francisco producer continues to impress with a new triptych for Dekmantel Records. Over the course of three EP’s (Rhythm, Acid, Polyphony), Charles McCloud Duff displays his versatile and original take on house and techno. The concept of the triptych is to explore the range within the confines of a particular limitation.
A year after his last outing on the label, Andrew Red Hand is back on MOS Deep with another fine four track offering. ‘Lonely Heart’ opens things up in spritely fashion, with frazzled synths circling round a rooted rubbery groove. The lines grown more wild and untethered as things roll on an it is sure to carry floors away to another dimension. ‘Sleepless Nights’ is another busy cut, with gurgling acid wrestling with more serene and soulful synth smears. Bristling and brimming with energy, it’s a fluid bit of techno that is as classic as it is fresh. ‘Dry Tears’ is another fulsome arrangement, with light and shiny synths, gritty bas notes and airy hi hats all jostling for your attention and last of all, ‘Moms Spirit’ soars off to the horizon on a smooth house tip, with rueful pads, sweeping strings and elastic bass really getting you on your toes. These are clean, crisp, accomplished tracks that cannot fail to make their mark.
Chicago house legend Mystic Bill joins Crimes Of The Future with two straight up jacking house tracks with bonus instrumental and a mind bending remix by Scott Fraser. The A cut Frequency 9 is a rolling jacker with rattling percussion and dark synth stabs to dement the warehouse dancefloor and very much in the line of Bill’s trademark style. A2 see’s Fraser return the remix favour delivering a massive floor bumping remix adding all new drums, 303 and huge bassline giving a nod to the classic sound of those Sex Trax/ Power Music 12’s from the 1990’s with his 11 minute mind control remix…. The frequency cannot be controlled! Side B has both the original and a bonus intrumental of The Ship Is Sinking, a dark slice of jacking house complete with real tension and total mastery of the sampler for those able to spot it.

I Walked by Night presents its debut release from the UK based artist Tristan Grace. Inspiration from the motor city and acid sound lies at the heart of what he does. Influenced by rolling green hills, and surrounded by the analog soul of his machines – he has an addiction to vintage machines of Asian origin, valves, and it’s fair to say, he lives his life in 16 step sequence. A debut release on Fina White from one of the most influential UK acid pioneers, Affie Yusuf. Hailing from Southampton on the south coast of England, Affie has been producing techno, acid, and house music for over two decades. The lead track, ‘Roland Hardware’, builds in energy from its intro of dark distorted vocals into trippy, acid fueled masterpiece. With its looping hooks it steadily increases in intensity to a crescendo of the kind of distorted bliss that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand on end. An underground floor filler that harks back to a golden age of acid house. Taking things a little deeper, ‘Shinkantuiisu’ beautifully combines infectious funky grooving percussion with a dream esque melody. An elegant track with an enticing refrain and a rhythm that will have feet tapping and get any party started. ‘Spirit Acid’ rounds off this EP in fine style. This is acid house in its purest form with 909 beats, piano and a driving baseline. A psychedelic journey that is bound to get a great reaction in peak time sets.
