Andy Ash is a long time contributor to the sound of Quintessentials. The Liverpudlian shows superb diversity on his new EP called „Silent Planet“. The opener, „Patch 2“ is a stripped down masterpiece of Dub Techno and a perfect club tool. „Hross“ can be called Acid House, and you know we love that. The B-side shows more of a relaxed vibe with the beautiful string-laded „Franco alley“ and the smooth low BPM track „Yellow“. This silent planet has something to say and shows great variety of styles and Andy’s skills as a producer.

Andy Ash appears on French label Dessous for the first time with an energetic three-track 12″. Cast your mind back to some of the 6th Borough Project’s early releases and you’ll have an idea of the low-slung, Chicago house that have inspired this release’s title-track. The BPM ranged is scaled on the B-side’s killer cut “Mindflow” for something dancier, while a combination of the elements heard throughout the aforementioned mixes, with some added acid, create a joyous “Release & Check (part 1)”.

A heavy lead rhythm provides the foundation from which spiralling elements project. They coruscate, pulse with light and collapse inwards, until just the echoes of Dub2 are left. Rising from these depths, the sharpness of Distribution Theorys crisp hi-hats and snapping claps provide forward momentum to a series of stabs. The house element. Beginning as a mystery but ending as a certainty, the ethereal theme that opens Untitled Document gives way as it increases velocity, shaking and rattling under the strain. The apex. Hands reach, seeking, The elusive moment has already passed, all left is pure. Bliss. Circumflex kicks hard, a final statement of intent. Powerful. Corrosive. This is late night techno, played over a system on which the squelching acid-lines converge within the mind. The body jacks.

Latest On the Prowl 12″ features the return of Andy Ash. As is to be expected with the talented, young producer, the EP is all groovy, bouncy, high-octane house with a hardy injection of disco glitz. Get Loose is what its name implies ;an elastic, fidgety whirl of dancey guitar strums; a heavy bass that pans in and out, mimicking the experience of opening the door to an underground club; and a playful keyboard melody. Love Me Straight is a spacier affair, with a lounge-y pulse and hypnotic synth hook that creeps in, out, and around your ears. The Deep Space Orchestra remix amps up the bass of the original, making the entire track sound like it’s being played under water. And You Show Me is a perfect example of Ash’s trademarks all coalescing into one big pile of shuffling dance floor fun; you can almost see the swirling disco ball lights through your eyelids and feel the smoke machine juice snake into your nostrils.

Wonderfull languorous slice of laid back slo mo house that fuses together loose limbed percussion, an old school riff and haunting, pitch shifted vocals. The tracks builds in intensity as the arrangement progresses, bringing the piano to the fore and shifting up a gear with hypnotic vocals that give the record a truly balaeric feel, quality stuff.

For Foto/s second vinyl release Liverpool-based producer and swept fringe sporter Andy Ash supplies 2 tracks of dancefloor pressure. The A-side ‘Dance’ combines deep detroit synths with driving house rhythms to devastating effect, whilst on the flip Andy gets his sample chopping gear out to cut up an 80s soul number into a grooving pitch-down banger for ‘Mason In My Basin’.
