Varsovia – Diseñar y Destruir [BR135]

Diseñar y destruir [Design and Destroy] is the second album by Varsovia, an electronic punk project created in Lima at the beginning of 2012 by Dante Gonzales (synthesizers), Fernando Pinzás (synthesizers) and Sheri Corleone (guitar, vocals). Unlike their celebrated debut album Recursos inhumanos [Inhuman Resources] (2014), this new production reflects a greater influence of styles such as industrial music and EBM, but maintaining the sound of analog synthesizers as a principle. The lyrics follow a concept based on the period of violence that Peru experienced in the 1980s, with samples of General Juan Velasco Alvarado and songs that refer to situations such as blackouts, bombings of terrorist groups, and the uncertainty of living in the midst of the armed conflict in a city lost in chaos.

Ofelia Ortodoxa – Ultra Culto [SOTA063]

Ofelia Ortodoxa is an electronic music project inspired partly in her family history and on the other hand as a criticism of the imaginary of the people of Medellin in the 80s and 90s in which society refused to accept the new trends of art. This is the project’s second release on Soil Records.

E.L.I. – Violence is Bliss EP [MRT011]

E.L.I. lands on MRT shores and pollutes them with all sort of filth. The label second last instalment takes us to Britain and it is one of the most aggressive so far. The distorted screams, the ultra darkness, the violent atmosphere it creates is tinted in black and white by the stroboscopic lights of underground clubs. A perfect mixture of relentless basslines and straightforward rhythmic patterns for the dancers with no cause, with no hope for tomorrow. Places made famous by death and disaster.

Spammerheads – Tar Blood / Cement Skin [SOIL18]

Spammerheads: This is definitely our most personal work to date. During the previous works we experimented to find our sound and in this work we have found it. It is a raw sound, which seeks to reproduce the sounds of the factories in the suburbs, among which we lived when we were children. The sound of the Great Machine of Industry at full capacity. The album conveys that strange energy of today’s big cities, shrouded in smog, pollution and decay.

VA – Modernation Vol. 4 [IM010]

Italo Moderni brings Modernation Vol. 4 it’s the last compilation from 4 and this time on vinyl. We finish this compilation with the best quality in production with artists like Timothy J. Fairplay, Alessandro Adriani, Chino, Chupacabras, Leroy Se Meurt, Univac and Adrian Marth. The A-side sounds like a late-80s industrial EBM cut but with a strictly new future concept inside of each track, while the b-side goes more Electro eighties weird sounds strong with metallic beats perfect for the adventurous working DJ. Everything with that futuristic touch that surrounds us today in the electronic music scene.

Flood – Romeo EP [KROF03]

Flood’s new release on “Kein Rauch Ohne Feuer” provides a sinister soundtrack to Romeo’s descent into darkness. Flood makes use of a sound palette inspired by Italo Body Music including heavy drums, rough arpeggios and eery pads. Subtle, wavy vocal bits add to the structure and let both “Romeo” and “Sacrifice” grow into catchy yet functional club tracks. On the B-side, Greek producer Alpha Sect gives the title track a new spin and – while slowing down a bit – easily shakes the Capulets’ crypt with his interpretation.

Mures – Tools For Modern Times Restraint [MRT010]

Mures are Joshua Cordova and Santiago Leyba. They fit perfectly as MRT010, transporting the label from the cold, grey, drowned in concrete atmospheres of Acid Ernst to the working class heat of the American south. Electronic body music, factory music, machines intensify their rhythm as degrees rise. Hot iron is forged, sweat and black stains cover bodies, hard labor, the struggle and the hammers, tools for modern times restraint. Rare Metal and Workers have just paved the way to that bullet that is Trains of Thought.

Italo Brutalo – Heartware LP [BD008]

A tale of paramount love for machines and the inextinguishable power of subjugation that lies in these button-studded boxes teeming with cabled bowels that feel so intimidating to the uninitiated, Italo Brutalo’s longed-for debut album “Heartware” is a 12-track voyage across 25 years of intense synth collecting, fiddling, composing and endless loving for audio synthesis and the art of how robots make human bodies jack. Throughout the twelve cuts that compose “Heartware”, a feeling of retro-gazing, candidly playful glee prevails.

Christian Kroupa X LCN – Worlds Connect EP [KRI001]

From a Balkan basement comes an EP so filthy that we had to cover the record with a color photo. KRI records first installment oscillates between EBM and electro, ready for sweaty dancefloors and those extra long afterhours needing some “warm leatherette”. A well crafted five tracker journey is a debut collab by two veterans, Christian Kroupa and Le Chocolat Noir. Get ready for plenty of melodies, massive chords and menacing vocals spiced with an epic acid remix by the Mannequin boss Alessandro Adriani.

Gino Ritmo & Ricci Verace – Night Shift – Part I [010CAF]

CAF? presents Gino Ritmo & Ricci Verace’s debut album: Night Shift (Part I). 808Hz’s Italo-sided project meets Ricci’s terrestrial and thirsty global wanderings to deliver a haze driven dance music, ranging from melo-synth-rides to harsher EBM-techno-strikes. Dark but warm at heart under the twilight.

A Split Second – Flesh [DR013]

Official 2022 Reissue. A Split Second’s cult coldwave EP Flesh was dropped back in 1986 on Antler Records. The band of Marc Heyndrickx, and Peter Bonne (aka Chrismar Chayell) only formed a year earlier but his debut single made a huge impact and has become a real classic of the EBM and wave world ever since. Numerous albums followed well into the 90s but rarely did the pair ever top this – the jerking rhythms, ravey electronics and retro-future chords all resonating as much with audiences now as they did back then.
