Members Only is back for 2024 with another entry in what must be one of the most creatively off-the-wall series of edits ever committed to wax. The 4 cuts on offer here deftly blur the lines between disco, house, and EBM reminiscent of The Music Box or Medusa’s.

Dripping with the allure of the 1985 Flexi Cowboys original, Italian native DayVentura tightens things up and broadens horizons in the next edition of Slow Motion’s ‘A UFO’ free edit series. Building to the unforgettable bass hook of ‘Domination’ DayVentura elegantly captivates the ears, keeping us hungry for more with sophisticated flair. The vocals are beautifully washed out, providing a clear space for excitement to build and fill the floor. Nodding to sun-kissed sets in future summers, DayVentura creates a timeless reimagining of this seminal classic.

Sao Paulo’s Rafael Cancian steps up with 2 brilliant edits on Hot Pot. ”Heaven” takes up the A-side, a cosmic disco groover for midtempo dance floor ecstasy. Over to the B-side, ”Nigeriac” is a syncopated Afro Funk Rock joint for those rare groove moments.

Slow Motion Records member and long-standing affiliate Andrea Tempo returns to the ‘A UFO’ edit series with a formidable re-imagining of Jo Squillo Eletrix’s – Avventurieri. Tempo respectfully tightens up the iconic instrumentation of the original, providing the low-end with his signature definition. Giving us more of the original’s Moroder-esque bassline in the arrangement, allowing for a rewarding release of the ever-infectious vocals from 1983 Italy.

Scannoir & Sneaker, aka “GOTT”, explore, transform and mutate. This unique collaboration embodies the perfect symbiosis of passion. “Die Deutsch-Schweizerische Freundschaft” is still profound and continues to have an effect. Now the two artists present their latest work: GOTT – Mutatio on the Zurich based label Mattoni Pazzi. The release includes an edit of a goth rock song by Fields of the Nephilim and one from the industrial band Sonic Violence.

Dunkeltier is back on wax, this time on the German label Reach Another System aka RAS Records. It comes as no surprise that it’s a surprise box drawing from the bottomless pit that is the 80s. And again, these edits are closer stylistically to his dark side project boldly named GOTT than to his more gleeful mainstay alias Sneaker. The sources of these four obscurities are only revealed to the third ear of the knowledgeable digger, but let us give you a hint – gathered are Teutonic Titans, a Bauhaus offshoot and a digital symphony orchestra.

This collection contains 4 spiritual folkloristic tracks, in very different vibes and tempos. The first track is a beautifully extended edit by Dion Monti of a traditional song from Rosa María (Ecuador) which feels like ‘House Music’: the bassline, the 4 to the floor kick, the strings… then wait for the singing to come in. Carmen is Private Dancers’ rework on a track from the 1983 movie score with the same name, pure heat. BORȘ, dj and producer from Moldova created an uptempo floorfiller using traditional samples that she is giving some more space in the breaks… and Robotic AF edited some instrumental parts of a Bollywood song into a 152 BPM acid banger.

Guadalajara’s My Boy Roy returns to Wrong Era with an anthemic edit of Boytronic’s ‘Hold on’ for the A UFO free edit series. He gives the original a respectful, powerful re-arrangement and layers on his percussion his signature lift.

Unknown Artist, unknown label, unknown everything, the only thing we know is that unknown weapons always releases killer tunes.

Experimentation on edits is a lost artform where one could be fearless and make things nasty. This is just the artistic endeavors of editing, looping and effects for historical purposes. Edits created and twisted over 20 years ago by Jamal Moss.
