New York Haunted is now 5 years old. Ignored by many, loved by as many more. NYH aims to be a home for the true underground in electronic music and releases diverse and stubborn producers that live for their music. Compiled by the NYH artists, this is part 1 of a 2 part collection that shows of the diversity and width of the label and, dare we say, the current underground in electronic music today.
Overlord of Polish techno, FOQL, drops 2 originals and 2 remixes on this tape. Slabs of heavy, doomed out techno get complimented by remixes by Tapirus (aka Charlton) and the German techno duo Fallbeil. Peak hour madness.
FOQL belongs to the same Polish electronic music collective as Marburg, but the sound of this project is truly different. Hypatia EP is delicate and even fragile maybe… It has the ritual feeling like some of the music by Coil has, and fuses ambient, electronix and techno in the same way Kobosil can do. In short, this is a record for well informed and well educated music lovers.
