NYH aims to be a home for the true underground in electronic music and releases diverse and stubborn producers that live for their music. Compiled by the NYH artists, this is part 1 of a 2 part collection that shows of the diversity and width of the label and, dare we say, the current underground in electronic music today.

Drvg Cvltvre – The World Is On Fire But We Still Dance Like Twats – Part 2 [CLTD011]

The New York Haunted label owner Drvg Cvltvre drops 3 new tracks on Concrete Records. Strong synths, acid bass lines and aggressive sounds are the elements that always characterized Drvg Cvltvre’s music, in this EP he shows another more sophisticated and personal side: pads and ambient suggestions coexist with the strong basslines and rhythms. A different approach that gives a more deep and mental oriented tone to the tracks. A lot of percussion add raw sound characterized this three tracks, a just balance between the raw house genre and the violent techno sound.

Drvg Cvltvre – Presents H-World: Recolonization [SHIP0521]

1997. ‘Drexciya don’t have no phone. They’re too busy to do your remix’. Mad Mike’s response was short and to the point, enough to put off some; but not Vincent Koreman. Addicted from an early age, the dutch producer dug deeper and deeper into the mythology and mystery of James Stinson and Gerald Donald. The sounds, images and ideas conjured up by the Detroit electro duo pulled Koreman in, his “fascination” growing ever more “intense” as the underwater dwellers sonically prospered. Fast forward twenty years and that fascination has not diluted one drop, in fact the aquatic dream of the wavejumpers is the inspiration for “Recolonization”. These tracks “would have never had existed,” says Koreman, “if it wasn’t for Stinson and Donald creating that great, energetic, abstract electronic music and coupled it with an original vision on the African diaspora, art and culture.” This music is an homage to the enigma of Drexciya, a tribute to the machine marine men who pioneered electro and a vision. Drvg Cvltvre continues that vision, one of “an underwater race” that has reconquered Earth, overcoming “big business, corporate greed and water pollution” to reclaim the surface from man. Forget mankind. Our time is over, ‘Recolonization’ is here.

Blind Delon – Edouard [OR172016]

The acclaimed debut of one of the most surprising new projects of the very active french scene. The one man project of Mathis Kolkoz from Toulouse will delight any modern era synth wave post-punk connoisseur with rude analog synths, simple drums and effected guitars over Mathis mesmerizing voice. Drvg Cvltvre joined the party with a crazy old school acid version of “Alcoolemie”.

VA – Y/Z [SUBREC1338]

This various contains a dark, slow, atmospheric track by long date hunter, Drvg Cvltvre to introduce the record heavily and to conduct your dreams. Then, the break’ n’ experimental track by Goolyk is following on the Z side. About the Y side, two pure techno tracks for body & mind, between acidic lines from the satanic player Run X and some deconstruct music by the rAver Damcase.

Drvg Cvltvre – Into The Endless Night [PNKMNLP001]

Toeing the line between divinity and profanity, blurring beauty and debasement, is Drvg Cvltvre. Following Offender Status and Gauwvuur is an eight track album: Into the Endless Night. From the guttural emotion of “Where Embers Die” to the bleak ferocity of “Brakes are Death”, a complex and hardened array is on display. Buried angst is never far away. “There Were Rumours” flexes with embittered bars before the unrefined purity of “Jericho Flats.” Respite from this whirring carnival is a rarity, relief from the seesawing serration of “Shock Corridor” or rollicking jeer of “Charge of the Haploids.” But there is reprieve, radiance breaks through. “Into the Endless Night” pulses with brightening hope, one which is reflected in the gritty finale of “Winnerden Flats.” Heartening warmth piercing the hail. Balancing on the precipice, an album of scared and soulful sounds from this darkeyed light in modern electronic music.

VA – Signs Of Decay [SOM038]

Signs of Decay: Acid Compilation with dirty and hard acid cuts by Ekman, The Exaltics, Helena Hauff, Perseus Traxx, Drvg Cvltvre and a artwork made by Godspill. A powerful collective statement on the desiccation some “hard and dirty acid tracks” can do to a dancefloor. Don’t come here looking for any lofty concepts, this is just five of the best banging their boxes in the name of all that is grotty and lysergic.

Hesperius Draco – Northern Sages EP [FRV019]

Frigio Records are delighted to announce that Alessandro Parisi is once again donning the darkened robes of Hesperius Draco. Following the acclaimed Cathar Rhythms this supremely talented Italian artist delivers. The five track mini-album continues the Draco search to balance tainted techno, sinister synth and soulful sounds. The underhanded rumblings of “Tronitum Domini” introduces before filth encrusted bass blurs the menacing visage of “Mjolnir”, claps scarring the already grimacing sounds. To end the first side, the medieval blast of “ASI Kingdom (Mitt Hjerte)” is track that surely won’t pass unnoticed. Skies crack with thunder by analogue alchemist Drvg Cvltvre on this interesting remix of “Fenrir Eye” which original version ends the release with Blackened clouds build for the intense and tapering approach.

Drvg Cvltvre – The Right Knife In The Right Back [PIV001]

Tilburg based producer Drvg Cvltvre did another outstanding job. Four extremely mean tracks ment for bombing dark basements, nasty party’s and late get togethers. New label based in Berlin ran by Rotterdam producer Charlton / Tapirus together with Nick Dunton.

Drvg Cvltvre – Grauwvuur [PNKMN011]

Acid, no wave and experimental house producer Drvg Cvltvre with a four track EP on Pinkman Records. Up first, ‘My Houz’ is a swampy house track with heavy drums, whirring machines and white noise textures all adding up to an intense affair that sounds like little else. Then comes ‘Tyranny of the Gods’, a slow tempo but high impact track that builds and builds on a nerve lead synth line as frazzled bass props things up from below. Darkand weird, occult and rave, its another unique proposition. On the flip, ‘Sleepdealer’ is an unbalanced house track with taught, tight bass and is shot through with laser like synths. Serene and spaced out, it makes way for closer ‘Crack Spirit Guide’ which is a noisy, intense and brooding fusion of crisp percussion, big walls of synth and chattering drums that really have you on edge.

VA – The Dying Lights [LXRC023]

Lux Rec enters its fifth year of existence. A time of adventures in electronic sounds, exploring the margins and the darkest corners. To celebrate all victories and failures Cosmo & Faber compiled this release, the number 23, collecting material from old acquaintances and musicians that are new to the label. The Dying Lights is a collection of tracks that reflects the path Lux Rec followed these past years, acid, low-fi, analog rudimental techno, melodies of pain and sorrow. Six tracks on two vinyls, from light to dark, to accompany you, soothe and haunt you, to the only known end. Tracks tracks by Villa Abo, CCO, Juanpablo & Sneaker, Drvg Cvltvre, Echo 106 and Luciano Lamanna & Daniele Cosmo.

Drvg Cvltvre – This Place Of Wrath And Tears [OMD002]

A prolific producer from an underground punk DIY background, Vincent Koreman aka Drvg Cvltvre was previously known for his experimental techno releases as RA- X in the ’90s, on labels such as Bunker and KK Records. Stepping up to the new Omnidisc imprint, he delivers an EP packed with uniquely gritty, yet melodic techno weapons.

Broken Arrows – So Few Truths [GD010]

Broken Arrows are the powerhouse duo of London’s Bill Ambrose and Spruxx. United over an envy inducing collection of vintage and modern synths and drum machines. Broken Arrows are the sound of a slime coated pansexual Club D’Amore as populated by malfunctioning ED-209s getting real freaky. Taking cues from classic EBM, Minimal Synth, these three dark-fucking-wave destroyers are complimented by a remix from the one-man-brutalist-factory known as Drvg Cvltvre, taking the title track and twisting it into a reimagined 8-bit NES grinder / grindr.

Drvg Cvltvre – Telepathic Warfare [COSMOS003]

Drvg Cvltvre is now back with a full EP of his own on Dutch label COS_MOS. Since 2009, Vincent Koreman a.k.a. Drvg Cvltvre has been churning out his own acid, no wave and experimental house and now kicks off the new year in style with three more inventive offerings. ‘New Earth Army’ is a slow, heavyweight and coarse track with rattling chords, angry percussion and elastic drums that manages to be physical and tough yet groovy and playful at the same time. ‘We Have Become The Filth of the Universe’ is a big, fat, heavy wedge of slow motion techno with monstrous drums and wild acid lines all spraying about wildly for the duration. It’s a warehouse sized track that will reduce the ‘floor to a writhing mess and finally ‘Possessed’ is a sci-fi riddled track with lots of spacey synths, filtered analogue lines and paranoid sirens all making for a turbulent brew of dark and otherworldly energy.
