Jeff Mills’ Spiral Deluxe collective unveil their second album. Driven by the free expression and creativity of improvised performance, Spiral Deluxe is an electronic jazz fusion project comprised Jeff, along with legendary keyboardist Gerald Mitchell (Underground Resistance), Japanese rocker Yumiko Ohno (Buffalo Daughter/Cornelius) on Moog synthesizer and the Japanese bassist, adopted New Yorker, Kenji ”Jino” Hino – son of Terumasa Hino, the world famous jazz trumpeter. Together, the four key players formed a band centred around completely improvised journeys through sound.

Initially formed for the performances in Japan (Tokyo/Kobe) and released “Kobe Sessions” EP (AX070) last year, they gathered again in October 2016 for European tour, when they named themselves as Spiral Deluxe. Through the years, Basic Soul Unit has established a solid following for his quality melodic techno. “Motional Response” is a work of art. A finely crafted suite of ten tracks where elaborate techno rhythms battle with intricate synth harmonies to create a genre defining full length. Throughout this album, 303s, 909s and 808s are a constant nod to Basic Soul Unit’s Detroit and Chicago influences without ever compromising his melodic vision in techno and house. The album is  including “Breath” , Basic Soul Unit’s first track with a vocalist along with a remix from label owner Jerome Derradji (with Gerald Mitchel – on strings).

DJ 3000 presents 10 Years of Motech (The Remixes) Part 2 EP ahead of the full length remix CD. Mark Broom adds a killer interpretation for an impressive opener. Next up is Kiko who doesn’t disappoint with his driving new rendition of DJ 3000s Defiant (MT-015), toughening up the original but still maintaining its funk-fuelled roots. The rest of the EP features a remix a track taken from Franki Juncas 2011 album Invisible Moods. Firstly, Ill Be Around gets the remix treatment from Detroits Luke Hess, delivers a moodier take on things, with deep pads and a grooving beat.
