Svengalisghost – Mind Control EP [LIES009]

Another new artist making their vinyl debut on L.I.E.S. After being brought to the attention of the L.I.E.S. camp almost five years ago by New York legend PorkChop (SSPS/Nation/Excepter) the goal was to release something by the mythical figure known back then as, Below Underground. As time passed from 2007 to the present PorkChop had continued to pass along the music of his friend from Chicago every time we dj’ed together. As L.I.E.S. took shape I had made contact with the artist and discussed the prospect of getting a hold of his archive of songs and releasing some of them, only to find out most of his early recordings had been lost (thankfully, due to PorkChop we recovered them). Now transformed and known as Svengalisghost, we present three undeniably original compositions from these sessions which sit in the grey area where early house music and primitive industrial electronics met and existed on the same plain.

Mark Forshaw – 360 Vision EP [CH010]

Mark Forshaw makes his debut on Council House Recordings. Mark is a fellow hardware freak with an impressive collection of vintage analog synths and dusty drum machines. It is these old, gritty machines that give Mark’s productions their sound. The release includes two originals by Mark and remixes by Martin De Brig and Liliths’ Dusky.

Arttu – Soul Stream [4LUX1201]

Arttu comes with his first single for 4lux. “Attic House” is a filthy club banger with heavy bassline and cut up vocal bits. Gerd re-arranges the track and adds more drama to the strings coming in halfway throughout the track. “Soul Stream” is a deeper Detroit-ish nugget with nostalgic feel. Yet again Arttu’s trademark of slamming beats & bass combined with cut-up vocals snippets profide for an insane jackin’ track. Last but not least Snuff Crew comes with a heavy re-work on “Attic House”.

Luomo – Spy [MOOD111]

https://geo-media.beatport.com/image/4863480.jpg

Luomo aka Vladislav Delay, under a raft of names Finnish artist Sasu Ripatti, has in the last years experimented with ambient, broken beat, glitch as well as grooves and house music with soulful vocals. Luomo is about experimenting with pop music, a big influence for Ripatti, and bringing it to a fusion of house, disco and electronica. His longplayer “Plus” hit the shops in October 2011 with a fine selection of songs inspired by Pop and end of the 80s Chicago vocals. For the 2nd single from the album it was obvious that Spy needed a proper single release, an imminent feel-good song with enough dancefloor appeal to be played out. The release features remixes by My Favorite Robot, Penner+Muder and Teeth.

Alfabet – E/F [RH-ALFA3]

On the third Alfabet release Tom Trago and Awanto3 step it up a dozen of notches or so. ‘Hell Of Samba’ surely sounds as the theme tune of armageddon. ‘Too Shy’ on the other hand sounds like we have died and woke up in heaven. A soothing, spaced-out, yet bass heavy jam that gives an strangely eerie feeling that angels are among us.
