Dolly’s first release in 2012 and immediately setting a high standard for the year to come! This time Aroy Dee under his M>O>S> disguise is delivering the deepness. Present as usual are his trademark vintage synths & drums, but this goes beyond the average retro Chicago stuff… skillfull on the machines while it’s very clear the music comes from deep within. Marcel Fengler on remix duty adds a little techno punch, which perfectly tops of this very fine release.

Steve Moore – Panther Moderns EP [LIES010]
New ep from Steve Moore which hits hard straight from the get go, as the title track Panther Moderns sees Moore moving into bleaker, mid-tempo musical territories with this brutally haunting, sparse, yet, funk ridden cut. Beyond Tykens Rift is the light at the end of the tunnel with its melodic and uplifting techno/new age leanings while the b-side’s Ancient Shorelines I., which opens with heavy arpeggios and a plodding kick, creates desolate landscapes of still to be discovered planets as the song’s dramatic narrative unfolds.
Break SL – Desert Flight EP [UV009]
Break SL strikes back with a massive track called “Desert Flight” on the Uncanny Valley camp. Over the course of ten minutes the track unwinds as an analogue Slowhouse trip that is dominated by a gritty synth figure. With typical sophisticated Break SL drums, radio transmitted messages directly from the cockpit and a freaked out siren it’s a track that is not from this world. The flipside starts off in a more classical manner with the rumbling House of ‘Amorphed limits’. The track is distinguished by rapturous synths and gets spiced up through additional drum work by Break SL’s partner in crime Manuel Sander. ‘Beercase Song’ originates from collaboration with Dresden’s universal genius Max Rademann. His quirky keys and Break SL’s drum workshop create a dirty piece of Funk which rounds up an eclectic EP by a versatile producer.

With his old-skool rooted sound, Tazz has always brought tantaslising styles to Kevin Griffith’s mighty Tsuba stable. There’s something very playful about the way he sets about building tracks, not least on the square-wave bass rinsing “Giovanni’s Keys”. Let it never be said the man is cashing in on tried and tested formulas, bringing his thoroughly modern production skills to bear on tightly honed floor rockers. “Many Reason!” ups the ante further with the teasing arpeggios and chiming synths, while “Captain Groove & The Oscillators” pulls things back to show it’s not all peak-time bangers in the Tazz camp.
Megadon Betamax – Falling EP [VR008]
Falling is the second full release on the excellent Voyeurhythm imprint from Megadon Betamax aka Mostyn. The mid tempo poise of “Falling” is perfectly embellished by intricate rib tickling synth work, perma floating vocals and is further charmed by a dash of surf guitar! Former Tresor resident and current Auckland dweller DJ Raw Sugar turns the track inside out for a nicely dubbed beatdown rendition on the flip whilst the previously released Betamax jam “He Can’t Love You” gets a reworking from the rising talent LeSale.
VA – RDY #7 (Ron Hardy Edits) [RDY007]
Amazing 3 tracks straight from the vaults of one of the original house music creators Ron Hardy, featuring the ultra rare “Love & Happiness” from First Choice, here the incendiary version from the master himself. On B1 we get the brillant & timeless Ron Hardy mix of J Geils Band “Flamethrower”. B2 another mega rare version of Streetlife’s “Tearin Down The Walls”.
Pigon – Kamm Interpretations [LILA001]
Lirum Larum is a brand new joint of Pigon aka Efdemin and RNDM. Always riding the thin line between house and techno with a twist for the obscure they decided to have their own imprint from now on. The 1st release features a composition of their own in two mindblowing interpreations. Function and Tobias provide their interpretations of pigon’s track “Kamm” (originally released on beatstreet in 2008).
Nightjars – Nocturnal EP [VVR002]
Vae Victis second release with apparent newcomer(s) Nightjars taking the reins but still maintaining the philosophy of analogue processes and hybrid styles. The concept is further crystallised here with two distinct sides to the record; starting with the ‘raw’ side, “Thing Movin On” steps and shudders in a sparse fashion, using very little percussion besides a kick and rimshot playing against a looped synth refrain and a purposefully distorted vocal sample. “Heavy” however fares far better with some nasty processing, as a mean acidic bassline rubs up against razor sharp hats in belting fashion. The more melancholic material in Nightjars’ repertoire has been wisely saved for the ‘clean’ side, starting with the plush finish of “Left People”. After that ambiguous exercise, “Everynight” positively shines for its focus and dynamics. While there’s no greater complexity at work in the music, the pace and flow of the track feels far more engaging, not least when the vintage garage-house bassline comes in.
Kresy – Lords of Percussion [HVN011]
“Lords Of Percussion” is the debut release by Alejandro Rodriguez for Hivern Discs. The imposing title track invokes the spirit of the darker side of Detroit with a a kind of psychedelic perspective. Blending utterly tense pads with savage vocal samples and fueling them with heavy drums, Kresy bring us a battering Techno cut that exudes sterling rawness and will unveil primitive forces even in the most rough dancefloors. Along the original mix, the release includes brilliant remixes by Jacob Korn and Aster.
Simon Garcia – Cavern EP [PFR126]
Simon Garcia continues his quest for the holy-grail of modern house and techno as we set forth into “Cavern”. And indeed “Cavern” is a breathtaking ride – a warm pulsating synth pattern is coaxed along by a dusty, filtered kick before we are greeted with rushing bright percussion and a thunderous lead kick. Wild FX open up the floor with the first ecstatic break and from there on the track runs with a mind of its own, exploding with rapturous drama and tasteful restraint. Bringing us back down to earth at least for a moment.
NY Stomp aka Gerd – Can You Feel It? EP [ILL003]
Illusion Recordings is bringing an absolute stomper from the appropriately titled NY Stomp with a track called ”the NY House Track”. The track is a massive track inspired by New York, Jersey house music and is designed to get every party rocking! NY Stomp is a special project by Gerd who made this track to add to his live set with no intention to release it. On remix duty its Nicholas and Dj Aakmael both doing an excellent job by smoothening things up and take things a bit deeper.
Ivano Tetelepta – I Think About You [FOFVIN2]
Dutch newbie Ivano Tetelepta steps up to the plate for his 2nd release on Fear of Flying; ‘I Think About You’ is a sleek slow burning groove with hypnotic undertones, the repeated female vocal and sharp hi hats giving the track it’s dance floor impetus. ‘Taksi’ takes an altogether different path – pumping up the beats for a slice of pure peak time phunk whilst ‘Open Moment’ injects a light melodic feel over dubbed out beats – one for early mornings and a fine way to end a really well balanced release.
Andy Vaz feat. Eva Soul – Feelin’ [SRT152]
Soiree Records presents the unreleased mixes of Feelin’ by Andy Vaz featuring vocalist Eva Soul. Drivetrain’s Reflection-a high-powered fusion bringing the feelin’ to a climatic, electrifying crescendo of deep scientific intelligence. Andy Vaz-Original-it all begins here…the sumptuous voice of Eva Soul the collaboration of precision musicians and the absolute of machines, resulting in a feelin’ of authoritative electronic soul. Norm Tally’s Feelin’-the late night creeper delivers another incendiary composition submerged in signature Detroit intoxication.

Italian house producer Nicholas checks in with his first full solo outing for the Home Taping imprint. All the tracks have his trademark sound that fuses a love of disco with the feel of early NY house music to produce a strong and heavy brew that is perfect for the dance floor.
Redshape – Throw In Dirty / The Land [3024017]
Redshape with two tracks on 3024. A-Side ‘Throw In Dirt’ opens with vintage drum machines locked into a stooped groove as hi-hats spark off the top while a heavily filtered and pitched vocal loop offers dead eyed encouragement. After such an oppressive opener, ‘The Land’ is a noticeable change of pace. A horizon spanning kick underpins gospel’ish vocal snatches as the familiar hissing of synthesized cymbals shifts and builds on top of bass that’s more shudder than line.
