The Zenker Brothers present their second album “Cosmic Transmission”. In their own words: “In another time it felt like, only an unpredictable extreme event could change the way we choose to live together. Now it feels so crazy, it can be overwhelming, but always remember we are just a tiny micro spaceship traveling through a gigantic universe. When nothing is safe, all is possible. We are one – one love. M&D”

VA – Bias Jams 3 Munich Edition [IT038]
In 2012, the Zenker brothers introduced a new series on their Ilian Tape imprint: The Bias Tapes. We are now into the third edition come 2018 and it’s a great one. Like the name may suggest, The Munich Edition features some heroes of the local scene such as Kareem El Morr: who delivers the dark side electro bass of “Eros 404”, likewise label boss Dario Z. (ft. Maurice P.) goes down the same toute on “CEJ”. Elsewhere, dubby and cyclical warehouse techno in the vein of G-Man can be heard on Konrad Wehrmeister’s “CWS” and usual suspects Marco & Stenny hammer the message home in typically bold fashion with the emotive “Imcon”.

Dario Zenker – Dedication [IT029]
2016 marks a decade since Dario Zenker released his first 12″, the Whatever EP on Balkon. Here, he returns to the Ilian Tape label he co-founded with brother Marco for a first solo missive since his 2014 turn on The Trilogy Tapes. There’s much to admire about Dedication, from the starburst synths and booming, broken techno rhythms of opener “There Is Hope”, to the Roman techno revivalism of “Gianluca Cazzeti”, and the skittish, funk-fuelled intensity of the Dave Clarke style “For Internal Use”. Arguably best of all, though, is “Spice Universal”, a delicious combination of dub-flecked loop techno and the undulating, far-sighted futurism of Detroit.
J.C. – Portrait Of The Flying Sky [SPMBLP001]
Fred P’s Soul People Music returns with a full length from the artist formerly known as Kapser and Esperanza main man Jose Cabrera. Last seen on Peterkin’s newly inaugurated Boards imprint, the Madrid native presents us with some killer techno tracks on here. “Endorphinas” sounds like a restrained take on the Jeroen Search & Dimi Angelis sound, and sounds great! “Human Behaviour” is brooding moody techno at its finest. On the other side “Nebula 584 (feat. Dario Zenker)” is the kind of steely cyclical techno you would expect from such a collaboration while “Hyperion” is more on the Robert Hood tip with its entrancing stabs that repeat on and entrance you with, you guessed it; claps on the kick; and it’s rather infectious.

Zenker Brothers – Immersion [ITLP001]
“We are very happy to present our first album on Ilian Tape. At the beginning of 2014 we moved our two seperate bedroom studios into one and soon after started working on the album. All the tracks were made in about 6 months in our new Ilian Tape Space Studio in Munich. The time felt right to focus on this adventure, but without any pressure. Therefore the process became very natural and we felt free to go wherever the vibe led us. Our intention was to create a very personal and honest sound without any limitations or guidelines. It’s a reflection of all the years we’ve been growing up, working, traveling and playing together and it means a lot to us. But enough said music is not supposed to be described with words, so sit back, close your eyes, light one up and turn up the speakers!”

Zenker Brothers – Stratus Phunk [TRESOR267]
Not much more than a year has passed since the Zenker Brothers presented their debut EP Lion in Mars on Tresor Records. The follow-up record segues perfectly between a triumphant year in the studio and in performance, and a 2014 which promises to take their growing reputation for blazing techno to new heights.

Dario Zenker – Alto Fragments [IT021]
Ever committed to the techno cause, Dario Zenker returns once more to his own Illian Tape imprint with four intense statements of how classic and modern elements should be fused to make timeless tracks. “27 Northwest” undoubtedly has a whiff of original Detroit about it, but there’s no escaping how much of a hook the lead synth is over the tough but dextrous beat. “Cooking Booking” meanwhile exists somewhere in that discordant realm Kevin Saunderson dipped his toes into before rave emerged as its own offshoot, all the time still pounding out a detailed broken techno pattern. “Growin” gets a little more heady in its use of old-skool chords before “Karlim” softens the edges of the EP with a glorious slice of emotive techno.
Dario Zenker – Old D Tracks [ITX001]
Dario Zenker comes, on his own Ilian Tape, with some Old D tracks remastered. Aero was first released in 2011 on the Transzendental compilation, while Cafu was released on 3 Years Ilian Tape in 2010.

Zenker Brothers – Lion In Mars [TRESOR259]
After years of playing and working together side by side, in 2011 Dario and Marco Zenker emerged in official collaboration as Zenker Brothers with ”Berg 10 EP”. Now, they are back with their first release for Tresor, brandishing a matured sound and level of sensitivity yet displayed by either before. ‘Lion In Mars’ is like a fresh breeze billowing through the Tresor vaults. Honing in on signatures from the archive and repackaging them in modern sentiment.
