Crackboy – Back To The Future [CRACKBOY001]
Crackboy sticks two fingers up to the chin-stroking shoe-gazing deep house heads and drags us to the middle of the peak-time dancefloor with this Prince / Sueno Latino-sampling bootie! “Back To The Future”, aka “The Future” by Prince, gets a rocking house revamp on side A, one that will be sure to have everyone in a sweat. “Ebeneezer Knight” might have you worrying that the Shaman would be involved somewhere along the line, but actually this is a fattened up version of late 80s Manuel Gottsching-sampling Italo house classic “Sueno Latino” by Sueno Latino. Simple, effective music – nothing fussy, nothing over-worked, just tailor-made for dancing.

State of the art work on the dusty binding between house, techno, dubstep and analogue processing. On side A we find a dancefloor smasher with solid 808 beats and absorbing new yorican piano hooks, followed by an acidic voyage of epic proportions. On the flip, we get a proper piece of functional minimalism and a soulful uptempo excursion into the garage territories. His four track ‘Too Many Ghosts EP’ is a fizzing and machine wired world of deep space atmospherics, house beats and techno futurism. The A-side, The Future Never Was combines sparse beats and pads held together by a growling stuttered bass, which gives the track an industrial feel but on a techno/house tip. On the flip, Fake The Feeling, draws on sounds beyond the current trend for vintage analogue in an original take on the house blueprint. The B2 track Out of Orbit is 4 minutes 48 seconds of Tech soul, for the floor or the headphones.

Number 4 from World Unknown. Side W is a big vocal banger from San Francisco synth duo Inhalt. O side U, Jam Factory creates a throbbing club style track, slower, steadier and more strung out than their usual deep house grooves.

The sixth release in the Field’s various artist series showcases four peerless Dutch producers – Delta Funktionen, ROD, Mark Du Mosch and Roberto Auser. Delta Funktionen turns in a dry, concrete techno track, ROD a more frantic and amped up number whilst Mark Du Mosch goes for some heavy bass swing with his clipped and heavy house effort. Auser closes out a nicely rounded EP with some glistening ambient synth sounds that swirl around in your head like a calming breeze.
Daniel Stefanik / Vivianne Projects – Ultraschall / If You Loose My Number [HKR005]
Harry Klein Records is back with a two tracks EP. ‘Ultraschall’ is an homage to the first big techno club in Munich. Daniel takes us on a journey through the past and back to the future again. Talking of dance floors “Music For The Dancefloor” certainly does what it says on the tin. A modern Detroit Techno track with lots of energy with Huckaby’s signature keys that certainly move you.

The collective keeps it rolling with a new release featuring Chicago and New York artist as a united front to destroy dance-floors through house and techno tunes. Advancing through the ranks of the underground with 4 unique tunes that are quite deep and worth a check: featuring… G. Marcell, Dakini9, Kuru aka DJ Spider, and Hakim Murphy.
Unknown Artist – Reson [MANIA023]
Sex Tags Mania presents Reson – a zealous session of accented TR-808 and live synth solos balancing between the emotive and ecstatic, but not irrational. This live electro jam, recorded in Pyramide Studios Frankfurt, grasps the sentience of techno music. The countering side appends two parts – first purely consisting of beats and reverb – latter a deep stripped exothermic continuation of the main theme.
Maxmillion Dunbar – Everyday [LIES007.5]
Maxmillion Dunbar dropping a crazy limited three tracker for the L.I.E.S. label. The A-side is a unique style of lush, dreamy, chopped up slo-mo house music. Flip to the b-side for two tracks of straight up nastiness. Two mixers that serve as nice as hell dj tools to slide in and out of the mix, the vocal chop of Stayin Away stutters through off kilter synth and drum fills while Cassette Arabic drives hard with some bouncing ethno bass and vocals straight outta 1986 Belgium.

Bulgarian artist Strahil Velchev aka KiNK for the second volume of the “Tracks from the Vault” series. After the Aphex KiNK EP and KiNK’s tribute to Richard D. James, Sharivari releases another 6 tracks from the man, all produced between 2004 and 2009 in Sofia and showcasing again his love for the dirty side of electronic music, from pure warehouse techno to some funky and warm broken beats, with a subtle touch of acid, as always with KiNK.
Sangue de Cristo – Ponta do Mato / Cova do Vapor [EYE003]
One Eyed Jacks label offers a sterling collaboration between Photonz and Tiago Miranda. Both Portuguese natives, they’ve dedicated the tracks to remote, desolate beaches outside their capital city. ‘Ponta do Mato’ is a a sublime, supple Baleari-tinged groover with warm traces of classic Acid House done in deeply romantic style, while ‘Cova do Vapor’ is more disco-jacked and psychedelic with frothy cosmic synthlines.

Sweet release by Andreas Saag dropping some hot piano driven house on the a-side that has a bit of that Nights Of The Jaguar vibe with its staccato string melodies. Jazzy keys all over combine with a solid drive. Strong track!! A classy deeper cut on the flip side
Arttu ft. Jerry the Cat – Nuclear Funk [ROYAL011]
Arttu aka Lump would be jamming in his Lisbon studio with Detroit’s Jerry the Cat! These tracks are the perfect first collaboration between Arttu, Jerry the Cat and Clone records!! Playful and funky old schoolish house tracks with the joyfull vocals of Mr Cat all recorded during some live sessions in Lisbon where they both reside. Arttu went back to some intuitive drum programming for these live sessions and made simple funky drum machine patterns around nice hypnotic basslines. Vocals and additional percussion still have some of that live feel after the tracks have been arranged and mixed.
