VA – Air Texture Volume VI [AIR006]

The Air Texture Series asks two Producers/ Performers to select a double CD worth of unreleased music. The only guidance is the music should not be main floor bangers, other than that we get out of the way, allowing them autonomy over their selection. This time Steffi and Martyn were asked to step up. Exciting, since as residents at Berghain/Panorama Bar – two of the most important dancefloors in the world… how would two such respected artists approach our experimental ethos.

VA – Displaced Soundtracks [LAD030]

Seven years into its celebrated journey, Life and Death assembles its third and most adventurous compilation to date – Displaced Soundtracks. For the first instalment in a new series, DJ Tennis has given free rein to some of his most trusted contemporaries, enabling many of today’s most respected dance music producers to display their hidden talents as composers. Gathering music from a long-aborted film, the collection stands as another bastion of Life and Death’s perpetual evolution. Duncan Gray embraces dissonance, Black Merlin, Appleblim and Artefakt go interstellar and Fango channels post-punk squat music. Hades Rocket showcases the expertly-sequenced synth work that has graced Simian Mobile Disco’s illustrious career, while Redshape revisits all the right sides of 80’s Wave and Library music. Danny Daze and synth-savant KINK embrace non-standard tempi with great success, while Axel Boman delivers sitar-laced gospelhouse without a bass drum. Elsewhere, your favourite producer’s favourite producer, Stimming, team’s up with pianist Lambert and the pair learn to fly. Inspired and challenging, Life and Death ventures into their eighth year confidently, constantly evolving without compromise.

Neville Watson – Songs To Elevate Remixes [CR1266]

https://imagescdn.juno.co.uk/300/CS497575-01A-MED.jpg

Hot on the heels of the release of Neville Watson’s Songs to Elevate Pure Hearts album, Creme Organization releases a three track EP of remixes from the longplayer. The first is by Watson’s frequent collaborator, Bulgarian producer and live specialist KiNK. He tackles ‘Songs To Elevate Pure Hearts’ and laces it up with some lazy old rave breakbeats and plenty of lucid synth and melody pattern before Marquis Hawkes takes on ‘Against The Tide’. He imbues it with what is fast become a trademark sonic weirdness, with wrought iron synth bars interlocking with molten synth lines and a slow, purposeful and predatory mood. Finally, American Moon B turns in a trippy outsider house version of ‘Son Of House’ with off kilter claps, see-sawing synths and organic drums.

Orgue Electronique ft Robert Owens – Our House Remixes [CR1259]

Here we find a couple of heavyweights facing off with one of the centre pieces of Orgue Electronique’s acclaimed “Strange Paradise” album. On the one hand we have Kink & Neville Watson with a swooning but rather pressing epic that unexpectedly turns into a harmonious vortex. On the other hand, we find up ‘n cummer Willie Burns oldschool Jacking the faders with one of the sikkest organic beat tracks.

KiNK – Hand Mad [RH123-12]

New single by KiNK and it’s his first solo release since early 2011 and his debut for Rush Hour. The title track is a typical KiNK work out, which is based around an infectious disco loop and is blown to summer anthem proportions by the anthemic break-down which features Rachel Row on vocals. On the flip we find ‘Express’. A sleek groove that rides around all sounds that train: horns, whistles, train tracks, you name it..

@playlist artwork

Bulgarian artist Strahil Velchev aka KiNK for the second volume of the “Tracks from the Vault” series. After the Aphex KiNK EP and KiNK’s tribute to Richard D. James, Sharivari releases another 6 tracks from the man, all produced between 2004 and 2009 in Sofia and showcasing again his love for the dirty side of electronic music, from pure warehouse techno to some funky and warm broken beats, with a subtle touch of acid, as always with KiNK.

Wolfram ft. Haddaway – A Thing Called Love [PERMVAC082]

Wolfram and the legendary Haddaway have created a glowing masterpiece shooting straight into the heart of Eurodance for maximum pleasure. On the remix duties we have Kink with a pumping beat, fat ass bassline, a remarkable rim plus Haddy’s vocals. On the other remix, Legowelt created a track for the very special moments in the club: Early Morning, sun is shining in, everybody is happy and smiling on the dancefloor and when you hear the first notes of this remix you suddenly start hugging strangers.

Kink / Adam Port – Detunator [LIEBE036]

https://i2.wp.com/gfx5.decks.de/decks/gfx/co_mid/front/end_5/bwt-d5.jpg

New split Ep on Liebe Detail with Kink and Adam Port. Kink returns to Liebe*Detail with his second original track in a wonderfully raw and energetic jam – Detunator. Heavy, pulsating drums cut through the deep vibed Rhodes tones that swirl across the foreground of this atmospheric killer. Rushing and ecstatic, a classic monotone bass line drops midway to relieve the tension, before the the warm keys return. Adam Port comes with a jazzy influenced groover with house spirit.
