Dark Entries has always been rather canny when it comes to their Italo-disco reissues, often unearthing obscurities from one-shot artists who disappeared just as quickly as they arrived. Ghibli was one such artist. He only ever released one single, I’m Looking For You, back in 1985. That it still sounds fresh, despite its’ obvious period features – bubbling, Bobby Orlando style synthesizer sequences, bold chords and a heavily accented Italian vocals – is testament to the skill of the record’s original producer, Alfredo Baraldi. As with the original pressing, this Dark Entries edition comes back with the superior Instrumental version.

Re-press of the Original Italo-Disco Hit Recorded in 1983 by 18-year-old producer Roberto Ferrante and voiced by otherwise unknown Douglas Roop, a soldier who was working at the south Europe NATO headquarters in Naples. “Come on Closer” was such a classic of early Chicago house that original pressings sell on eBay for upwards of $200.

Two generations of Italian music history come together on this split 7inch. Milan meets Rome, Fred Ventura meets Alessandro Adriani. For this occasion Adriani and Ventura covered the 1982 evergreen ‘Changing’ by Bill Bruce. The perfect combination to pay homage to this monumental piece of music. On the flip side Fred’s early 80’s new wave band State Of Art got the remix treatment by Alessandro’s moniker Newclear Waves. Another unique match of these two key figures preserving the 80’s underground sound of Italy.

”Terror of the Universe” is Hyboid´s third long player on his label Astro Chicken. Blending influences from 70s Kraut and Cosmic music with 80s Synth Pop and Soundtracks from Movies, TV Shows and Video Games, Hyboid creates his very own out-of-time style. Recorded entirely with vintage synthesizers and vintage effects, ”Terrör of the Üniverse” is a high-voltage Space Opera!

Produced in June 1985, under the lead of Panagiotis Papachatzis, the rare LP “Just A Dream” featured several italo disco stylistic songs and became legend for its unique touch and excellent synth lines. Now No More Pop teamed up with the former band lead P. Papachatzis to make it possible to officially rerelease their hit single “Emotions”. This release features also remixes by Flemming Dalum, Steen Gjerulff and Murphy Jax.

Montreal. 1983. In the studio, Denis and Denyse LePage once again marry their musical ability to produce a romance streaked electro disco gem. Fast forward three decades and the husband-wife partnership of Lime may be forgotten by some, but not by all. Odessa pays homage and treats you to a Private Disco Show. Synth lines are buffed and allowed to shine once again. Vocals take a back seat as glittering notes are given centre stage. Bright beaming bars, cascading chords and heady harmonies bob and weave in this refreshing of a true classic.

The frosts of Finland are blasted away by the radiate synthesizer sunlight of Surf Dancer. Rich analogue textures are supported by Surf Dancer’s love of the vocoder, computer-spoken lyrics twirling amidst addictive melodies and clean-cut beats. Sweet notes and even sweeter words swirl in this world of ray guns, unicorns and of course rainbows. Strings soar skyward in the elation of “Rainbow Man” before the sleek funk of “Rocket in my Pocket”. Joy pours from the needle drop, instant happiness and body moving music from start to finish, the end coming in the xylophonic goodness of Future in the Night”.

Another one of the many aliases and side-projects from pioneering group Fockewulf 190, Dario Dell’Aere’s “Eagles In The Night” is a truly iconic Italo disco record. Coated with gutsy vocals from Fred Ventura, it’s kitsch without being too theatrical and rolls with such a hook and detailed melody that you’ll be hooked beyond the big, stadium-filling yearns. Naturally the instrumental is also included for those who find the croons a touch too much.

Mothball Record starts its 2016 release schedule with a bang by releasing their first LP. Originally produced in a tiny edition of only 100 copies back in ’87, this dark masterpiece from prolific Italian artist DECA finally appears as an official reissue on Mothball (in collaboration with Bordello A Parigi) remastered from the original tapes. “Synthetic Lips” is an absolutely diverse album spanning industrial, synth-pop, ambient and even elements of new age…some tracks will hit immediately and others will reward repeated listening.

A Visitor From Another Meaning returns to earth, and vinyl. The Viewlexx veteran is back on our world with Lost Encounters I, four cuts from the vaults. Beamed in from a distant galaxy is the blazing brilliance of “Dance of the Happy Shadows.” Past film score greats immediately come to mind. Vangelis. Carpenter. Moroder. “I Rarely Talk to Strangers” pulses with crisp beats and rumbling arpeggios, cloudy skies ready to rain on a polluted L.A. in 2019. The blue dot is left behind for the elation of “J is for Jupiter.” The stars are the place to be. “J is for Jupiter II” drifts from cosmic currents before illuminating the heavens for the lead out into end credits.

Past midnight. Empty streets. From an ill lit doorway a sound. A woman. Shadow. A scent. Drawn into one. Smoke and synthesizer music swirls. Bionda E Lupo. Crossing the threshold, tripping into twilight. Analogue emotion, styles twirled like garlands. Nervous shuffles and the touch of fingertips. Weaving, bodies twirl as morning shoulders into night. The realisation. The edge of eyes. Curl of lip. The click of heels with creak of floor. Feeling flows, ebbs, cascades and floods. Lipstick and heavy perfume. Two forms swimming in currents, bending to one another in the warm glow of aging speakers. Breath and pulse quicken. Electricity spiked with passion. The final embrace. Whispered promises. A kiss.

Amin Peck is an electronic studio project, contaminated by the New Wave from U.K. like most ’80s electronic bands. Amin-Peck walked a fine line between Disco and Minimal Wave throughout the course of the early 1980s, oftentimes incorporating shameless Pop melodies and Avant-garde leanings. Amin Peck were an italian band leaded by Giorgio Fioroni (aka George Fyron, arrangements, production, vocals) with Leonard Parker (arrangments, keyboards) and Max Marne (production). Incredible but true, Amin Peck started as ‘hard rock’ guitar band in the 70’s… and becoming one of the best examples of italo disco. This limited edition contains full-length versions plus uncut audio material (A2) tracked down during tape restoration. The first pressing coming from 1982 was pressed only on 7inch in U.K.

When “Walking in the Night” by Giusy Dej was first discovered as an incomplete track on the rare ‘A Touch of Class’ compilation, many italo fans were really surprised when it was later found as a single. And that the b-side “Follow Me” was also great! Both tracks represent the perfect mix of dark italo-disco and minimal-synth elements with raw lo-fi production. Without a doubt one of the most cult and sought-after discoveries in recent years. Flemming Dalum and Hysteric on remix duties.

Monster Cosmic ultrarare repress licensed from the “maestro” Piero Torsani . One of Daniele Baldelli’s most played tracks At ”Cosmic Disco”.

Honey Soundsystem is proud to present an unreleased disco 12” by San Francisco-based musician and producer, Patrick Cowley.
