Jim Coles’s fifth instalment of his best-selling ‘Acid Dub Studies’ series arrives in the form of the third set of original works exploring the infectious sound of the 303 bass-line in a dubwise setting. The album takes in traditional dub mixing approaches in a digital and roots/digi-dub style whilst also making space for more electronic and ambient processes to close the project.
Om Unit and TM404 have both been researching production and compositional elements in the crosshairs of dub and acid for the last few years – Om Unit most notably with his Acid Dub Studies 1 & 2, and TM404 with his Acidub album in particular.
The first full Om Unit release of 2011 comes courtesy of Civil Music. Namely “The Timps”, a full electro workout featuring 3 original tracks and remixes from Salva. As digital bonus a Hrdvsion remix is available.
