LDR returns with another addition to their roster at Lunar Disko. Waterford native Leonid delivers a rare EP, crafted as always with methodical depth and warmth. A 5 track journey of emotive electronics and machine soul, evolving into another timeless masterpiece from Leonid.
Estrato Aurora makes his first appearance on Bliq with some advanced deep techno immersions that match the profile of the label perfectly. ”Ursus Dolinensis” takes a slow ride into submission, placing all the emphasis on the low end and using subtle background frequencies to shape out the atmosphere. ”Lunanosorex” takes a particularly tripped out approach to electro, while ”Glyphodon” adds a little industrial bite into the machine funk framework without losing that steely atmosphere that makes the whole EP so appealing. Leonid’s remix of ”Ursus Dolnensis” is the perfect complementary addition to the EP – the Dolly and Sistrum artist adds his own rugged deep techno machinations to the track to deadly, understated effect.
The sixth vinyl missive from Soul Print Recordings is a double-header featuring two tracks apiece from Leonid and Laak. The former handles the A-side, laying down two deliciously intergalactic chunks of spacey deep house. On “Urania 1”, he wraps psychedelic acid lines, supernova chords and Motor City melodies around a snappy drum machine groove, before working the acid lines further on the deep and hypnotic “Urania 2”. Laak takes over on the flip, peppering a bouncy, off-kilter drum machine groove with cyclical melody loops and undulating acid lines on “Sp”. “Waiting For Tomorrow” is arguably even better, with the fast-rising producer wrapping a tactile, synth-bass heavy backing track with fluttering electronics and sunrise melodies.
Irish producer Leonid is welcomed on board of the Into The Deep Records spaceship for their second installment. Paul Smith comes up with a stellar 4 tracks EP cut for clubs dancefloors. Landing deep in planet X analogic territories, you will find Leonid distinctive acid grooves fused in heavy basslines with amazing percussion work for a mystic journey across Nibiru’s galaxy.
Leonid and Jose Rico team up as Cygnuss and drop a double 12″ on Freebeat. This stunner of a double pack spans ambient melodic structures, burning acid lines, noisey electro and bashing house tracks.
Eleve welcomes Leonid into the family with Otherworld EP. He brings a three-track EP whose amazing sound and percussion, trademark basslines and detroitish leads and pads promise to transport many dancers to other worlds. A side starts with ‘Xana’, an esoteric house excursion with a mechanical edge. Next track is ‘Púca’, in the spirit of his deepest previous work with a characteristic syncopated bassline. B side long track is ‘Embarr’, an adventurous imagination trip across the sea; classic Leonid elements such relentless percussion and heavy bassline meets acid elements to create a one-way ticket to universal sub-conscience.

The enigmatic Freebeat label drops the fourth release as a collaborative effort from four deep house heavyweights. Leonid aka Paul Smith comes through with the mighty “Can’t Stop” on the A-side, a full-bodied cut with plenty of synth magic, followed by Miltiades and the slow-burning sway of “Xnn”. On the flipside, there’s a sweet and soulful house cut from DaRand Land in the form of “In Earnest”, and two pieces of off-the-wall mentalism from Jose Rico, one of which takes a totally beatless approach.

Leonid delivering some real deep house gems! Amazing warm & subtle groovy tracks with a techy edge and some distant Detroit echo’s… pure bliss. Maybe not peak time tracks but very well suited for building up tension, or for the early after hours… when the sun rises again.
As we further explore shapes of deep and emotive electronic music, Photic Fields proudly presents the return of Leonid. Despite this low output, his well-considered and delightfully crafted works are greatly appreciated and have impressed quite some folks. This record features 3 new tracks by Leonid, which all pushes down into the depths of ‘soulful’ house and techno music. Each of them does this in its own way but they’ve got one thing in common: they are all overloaded with warmth and emotions. Pure and calm deepness, which is soothing for our restless minds.
