INHALANTS - Deep Florida

New Yorkers Matt Morandi (Jahiliyya Fields) and Max Ravitz (Patricia) take the buyout, cash in their 401k’s, and opt for early retirement down to ”Deep Florida” on their debut LP for L.I.E.S. Titles like Humid Widow, Dark Duties, and Chasing the Dream set the tone for what can only be called a tropical storm of synthesizer chaos atop dusted drum programming and hazy vibes.

Jahiliyya Fields – Chance Life Moon Dance [LIES060LP]

Brooklyn-based experimentalist Jahiliyya Fields presents his second album on L.I.E.S. On Chance Life, Jahiliyya Fields changes track a little with the 11 tracks a tad closer to the dancefloor. While there are still out-there moments (including a bizarre spoken word cut), for the most part the album pairs his throbbing synthesizers and crusty electronics with dense techno grooves, psychedelic tribal rhythms and humid box jams.

Following last year’s “Unicursal Hexagram” LP Brooklyn producer Jahiliyya Fields enters a new realm with this four track EP. Taking elements from his past industrial fueled efforts and this time expanding upon them with the addition of the kick drum. One can hear a non-traditional and refreshing approach being brought to traditional beat driven electronics with piercingly harsh undertones and creeping melody. This ep explores the vast sonic elements which are designed to affect the body, the mind and the relationship between the two and the music.

Jahiliyya Fields – Unicursal Hexagram [LIES011]

Very strong double LP of beautifully executed synth explorations. Moving further into territories of experimental electronics comes debut album from this Brooklyn artist, Jahiliyya Fields. This double lp evokes emotions of equal pain, passion, beauty and disgust as it delves into areas of the psyche many are afraid to come in contact with. Read between the lines, close your eyes and listen. Not unlike new age music of the past meeting the harsh textures of the early industrial pioneers, this music serves as another narrative to our quickly deteriorating Western societal structure. Outsider music for those of us pushed to the side and living on the fringe.
